The PzKpfw V Panther is considered to be one of the finest tanks of World War II due to its combination of mobility, firepower and armour. Developed as a response to the Soviet deployment of heavy armour on the Eastern Front, and later to serve in Normandy and Northwest Europe, the Panther established its reputation as one of the first truly universal tanks and its influence can be seen in the design of modern battle tanks to this day. This book details how to model the main variants of this fascinating and significant World War II tank, and it provides a listing the main kits and aftermarket sets available.
This book is not for beginners or intermediate out of the box builders, except for inspiration. The step by step instructions are helpful, but again only for advanced or master builders. A lot of the detail sets he uses beyond what the model box contains (mostly Dragon Model kits) are not readily available anymore even though the copyright is 2006. I don't believe that Chesapeake Model Designs is still in business, but I could be wrong. I did price out his one example of an intermediate level build (I would consider it advanced) and it came to nearly $200 without painting. I must admit that cost is a factor for me and that I build the models pretty much out of the box with maybe one additional add-on set. Again, I believe this is a great for inspiration and ideas.
