Chelsea and Jalen’s

Jalen didn’t want to come to this Planet in the first place, but his people have been declining in numbers due to the pandemic that decimated their females….

Marrying outside of his people doesn’t set well with him, but they must do such things if their bloodlines are to survive……. And Trust me when I say this Jalen he shows His resentment From the beginning When he’s in the process of getting mated to his human. How much of an asshat he could be!

To be honest, I didn’t connect with either one of the characters in this one……. I felt like Chelsea was A bit too Childish. ………… To be honest, I really can’t pinpoint what- Exactly it was about her that just Annoyed the heck out of me..
and don’t get me started on Jalen and how full of himself that he was …… Maybe the next one will be better.

Eden Ember has already immensely disappointed me once (see: Wed to the Minotaur) but I decided to give her another chance solely because I'm very partial to men with wings, and also Jalen and Chelsea look so beautiful on the cover!!!

But those are the only good things I have to say about the entire book.

I understand that the book is only 100+ pages and there isn’t a lot of time or opportunity to develop complex characters and a gripping storyline. But Carissa Broadbent was able to do far, far better in Six Scorched Roses with only an additional 50+ pages…..

First of all, the author can't even get her own facts straight. I remember clearly in Minotaur that Chelsea wed a bear shifter and moved west, but somehow here she is married to a phoenix. No problem, I overlooked that for the sake of the story. But next, the phoenixes thrive on the "fire mountains of the west" according to Jalen, yet later Chelsea observes multiple times that their village is cold???

And finally, how am I supposed to root for a MMC who’s an absolute asshole lol he killed any semblance of romance in this book. These are some of his thoughts:

“Look, an angel,” someone yells from the ground. Stupid Terrans. They are still amazed by the sights of such ordinary things. Silly creatures they are, no better than baby making machines.

and

I almost feel sorry for her, whoever she will be. Maybe her sense of purpose will come when she mothers my child. No one has told me that I need to sire more than one. My duty will conclude once she becomes pregnant.

After a few chapters he somehow falls in love with her despite thinking of her purely as a vessel for his heirs at first. Sadly, I was completely done with the bullshit by then. The “conflict” that was included (Chelsea was away when their house burned down and Jalen flew away grieving, thinking she had perished) was literally a huge misunderstanding and I have no idea why there was such a big deal made out of it. You expect me to believe that after a couple of weeks, he falls so deeply in love with her that he can’t live without her?

And if I ever see the line “My mate shoves the cloth between her legs to cover her bloody hole.” during a spicy scene again, I think I’m going to have to bleach my eyes out.

DNF at 60%. The dialogue in this is just so bad, I can't, I just can't do it. Plus if the sex is described using words like ripping, tearing, stretching and stinging pain. I'm out. And if that didn't do it the line, "My mate shoves the cloth between her legs to cover her bloody hole" was what made for a definite shut that shit down.

I'm done with this series.
Great concept terrible execution.

So he literally rips her vagina apart while taking her virginity, throws a rag at her to clean her “bloody hole”, has some random dude from the village exam her right after, and is shocked she isn’t a happy wife?

This entire book felt like it was written by ChatGPT. Really disappointing DNF. I loved Layla’s books in the series so far so I wanted to try one of the other author’s books. Definitely won’t be making that mistake again.

Ok so the 1st think I noticed was that . At the end of “Wed to the minotaur” she was supposed to be matched to a bear-shifter and left 3 months before she sister Auryn went to visit her family .. and now she was apparently there when she visited and is now matched to a phoenix …

Looking passed that big change , I did like the begging of the book . How he was an ass and she is hating it but I really dislike how rushed it was !! And that she begs for simple things like a kiss .. yea no , t should have been more development there ..

I did love the ending how she visited her family and sister and found out who her little sister is mated too .

I am loving the creativity of all of these monster mating stories! This short book features a Phoenix finding his human wife. And unlike the characters from the stories we’ve seen so far, he isn’t doing it to find companionship and a forever soulmate. He’s in it to fulfill an obligation to his race and then move on. So the juxtaposition from loving and devoted characters to a cold and distant one was interesting. No special dicks in this one though, just slightly bigger than the average dick. I would definitely recommend these for monster smut lovers - they’re quick and easy to read, with just enough spice to balance things out.

Chelsea, es la siguiente de las hermanas Ridgewood en recibir su carta de compatibilidad genética para unirse en matrimonio.
Cuando ve a Jalen queda asombrada por sus increíbles alas, pero para su especie los Phoenix esta unión es solamente una forma de mantener su linaje.
Por lo tanto su relación comienza con el pie izquierdo y deberá tener paciencia para que su unión sea más que un trato comercial.

I don't usually leave brutal reviews.. but 3 stars was generous. I did finish the book, although I considered stopping multiple times. This book almost seems like it was written with Chat gbt. There are little to no grammar or spelling errors, but the writing itself felt like it had no soul. I'm disappointed, the plot is a cool idea. But the delivery is truly lacking. I respect amateur authors and their courage to write, but this was enough to make me uninterested in anything else this author produces. Also, a couple of other reviews made a good point, the spicy scenes were just downright uncomfortable to read. I don't usually say this, but maybe skip this one...

Definitely different from the others

So this story has been different from the others. I enjoyed the idea for not wanting to marry and then falling in love. But like before with particular author I don’t like the no epilogue at the end.

Wed to the Phoenix de Eden Ember serie Arranged Monster Mates varias autoras.

Argumento:

Vine a Alia Terra con mi gente a buscar un terreno y formar una familia.

Me envían al templo del matrimonio, donde me espera mi futura pareja. No estoy seguro de ello, solo estoy cumpliendo con mi deber, hasta que la veo.

Mi corazón late y de repente mi mundo se envuelve a su alrededor. Todo en ella me atrae, me hace querer escudar y proteger, y reclamarla como mi compañera, como mi esposa.



Mi humilde opinión:

Estaba contenta porque al fin iba a leer la historia de Chelsea, la hermana del medio de Auryn (Wed to the Minotaur). Aparentemente se había casado con un oso pero me sorprendió que no fuera así como anticipó la autora en el libro anterior. Parece que le cambió de especie al esposo. De todas maneras, creo que fue un buen cambio.

Me encantó que el héroe fuera un phoenix! Al igual que en el libro anterior, la autora me muestra el mundo del héroe y su situación lejos de su planeta. Me gustó conocer a estos seres alados de fuego que estaban reconstruyendo su pueblo con sus nuevas parejas y niños.

Enseguida me enganché y comprometí con la historia y los protagonistas desde el primer capítulo. La historia de amor de Chelsea y Jalen fue súper dulce y agradable con un poco de angustia que vale la pena y algunos giros sorprendentes de peligro que lo mantuvieron emocionante.

A diferencia de la otra pareja que leí, Auryn y Vrakius, fue más realista en cuanto a relación. Ellos tuvieron que resolver problemas al ser tan diferentes. Su matrimonio no tuvo un buen comienzo porque él no quería una esposa. Iba con la intención de casarse por deber. Al contrario de Chelsea que deseaba casarse con alguien que la quiera y estaba contenta con formar una familia. Disfruté verlos llegar a entenderse, arreglar sus diferencias y dudas hacía el otro y crecer como pareja.

Me gusta que la autora traiga bebés, hace más tierno el final feliz.

La verdad me gusta el estilo de escribir romances de Eden Ember y apenas puedo esperar a leer la historia de Agnes, la hermana pequeña.

I’ve read several in this series and I was a little disappointed in this story. It just didn’t connect with me the same as the others. It’s more an enemies to lovers-arranged marriage. Dual POVs but no epilogue.

GOOD!

I like that Chelsea and Jalen’s marriage starts off bumpy. It is only because they were not communicating very well. It is a sweet book with a moment of getting lost in the woods. I love it when authors describe their homes and the town they live in. It’s under 100 pages so I finished it in one day. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Jalen will do his duty to continue his species, he'll marry and father a child -- but that isn't his hearts desire.

Chelsea knows a genetically matched union can lead to something wonderful... she also realizes that's not guaranteed. But she wants to try.

This done in one kindle unlimited quick read has some interesting world building, with a society (planet wide) seemingly based on the principle you have to give something to get what you want. It's not just a world that requires hard work, but a willingness to sacrifice and/or compromise to achieve your dreams.... but if you're lucky, the price you pay comes back to you, with interest.

Hot and steamy monster romance with a little bit of danger and adventure.

Wed to the Phoenix is book four in the series Arranged Monster Mates by author Eden Ember. This is a multi-author series. Even though this is part of a series it’s also connected to book two Wed to the Minotaur. In this one the second of the three sisters have found their match. And all is not rosy. A sad almost tragic event does bring a bit of hope and some spice. A reunion could be in the cards for the sisters.
