The saga continues in this installment, and things escalate quickly. The body count rises, the “mastermind” is in danger for the first time, and personal relationships are tested.
The action is elevated in this story, which slows character development. It should herald an over-the-top climax, but I found even that was rushed.
If not for Jax (my favorite character), a few others who are safely tucked away for now, and some lingering questions, I’d be tempted to consider this a good place to walk away. But because of these things, I will read on.
This is probably best suited for fans of strong yet damaged female leads. And readers will want to start at the beginning of the series. While the novels complete a plot in each installment, the over-arching story builds from book one.
