Morgan Knight is many things: security company owner, a sheriff deputy's widow, and an expert in alternative religions and occult practices.
After local law enforcement finds human remains and evidence of unusual ceremonies, it all points to some sort of occult ritual, and Morgan's late husband's captain taps her to help him solve the case.
Her expertise will also prove useful in helping a grieving grandmother make sense of her late grandson's descent into the darkest of occult practices. Mysterious writings and grimoires seem a strange and curious bend for the young man.
Her expertise and wit will be soon pushed to the limit, when dark forces pick her as their next target.
A descent into the dark beliefs that surround us, 'Secret Rituals' is the first book in Jo Beekman's series of occult mystery novels.
If your interested in Black magic, the Satanic, voo-doo and wiccan stuff theres lots of it in the whole book. Deaths with strange surroundings made Morgan think it was different types of viccan sacrificing and such. They found heads cut off and fingers and some with their brains taken out of them or their spleens. Toward the ending of the book there is a spell put on Morgan. Those responseable didnt want her snooping around in what they were doing. This was not really a type of reading material I particularly liked. But I read the whole book.
I long ago stopped reading anything occult as I was finding it too “creepy.” But this one looked good and India’s enjoy it all. Great job with the plot and characters. I will read more from Jo
Really good story, it has a lot of detail which made it hard to read. But it had a good ending. So I gave it 5 stars. The ending left questions about Morgan Knight and her dreams. Hopefully, the next book will reveal what they mean to her.
Good book. The story could have used an editor to tighten it up and I did occasionally wonder at the abrupt scene changes but on the whole I really liked it. I really want to read the 2nd one.
