Patch

The Devil’s House MC is my life. It’s all I’ve ever known, wanted, or needed until her.

Sweet, beautiful Katherine.

She became my obsession, a distraction that was dangerous for the life I led, especially now with a club war heating up with the Fire Dragons. I fought it; I’m not a good man, and I’ve done things and have scars to prove it, but I can’t let go. So when Katherine decides that club life is not for her and tries to run from what we both feel, I vow to uncover all her darkest secrets and serve retribution on the man who would dare hurt her and those who scheme to keep us apart.

Is obsession love?

Yes, and it’s all-consuming.

Katherine

I was attracted to the rough-looking biker with one eye who sat in my section every night at the club-owned bar, The Devil’s Den. Patch made me feel things I hadn’t felt before, and after my marriage, I never thought I would want or need.

So, when he finally makes a move after months of waiting, I’m all in and ready to start a relationship with this man who makes my body tremble with only a touch.

My wild pirate, dark, possessive, protective.

But, I witness things happening in the clubhouse that bring back painful memories and insecurities. It’s too much, and I run from what Patch and I started. But Patch won’t let me go no matter how much I fight it, and when my past comes back to haunt me, I’m not sure I want to anymore.

Can Patch and I find a way to make our relationship work?

3.3 stars.
Not bad, but nowhere near my favorites.
First off, some of the writing was way too formal for me(not using contractions Nearly enough for normal Americans, especially southerners, plus using the FMC’s full name every single time, zero nicknames and I don’t remember any pet names), and it made me think about the writing more than I ever want to.

Plus I just wasn’t really impressed by any part of the book.
The smut was just sort of meh, the plot was interesting but when we got to the conclusion of it it just sort of snapped together in an instant and in some parts, even got skipped over to just a passing mention, and the relationship itself was just ‘I think you’re hot and sweet, be mine’, and the FMC basically just agreeing. Which wouldn’t be such a big deal for me if other parts of the story were more wowing.

🤷🏻‍♀️
I don’t think it was bad.
I’ve just read a lot of this genre, I know what I like, and this was just meh for me, personally.

I really enjoyed it but aside from 3/4 men, I’ve no clue who they are. Also it’s so ageist! She’s only 38!

Patch is the president of The Devils House Mc, but he’s also the overall president of all the other branches. He’s a hard man that has been in prison before for drugs, and violence, and lost his eye. When he meets Katherine he becomes obsessed by her, and decides he wants her for a proper relationship. Katherine is wary as she was married to an abusive man for 18 years and she’s terrified that Patch is the same. After they start ‘dating’ (Having endless sex.) Katherine sees the clubhouse on one of its parties, and it terrifies her and causes a flashback. The men are having sex with women all over, and it’s dirty and smells. Great sounds really appealing…….Not. As the club are at ‘war’ with another Mc, (They’re really not.) Katherine is in danger, as someone is stalking her. Pretty obvious who it is. As they try to have a relationship there are people who are determined to break them up.

I did really enjoy it but there’s a lot of things wrong with it:
The Mc men calling the club women bit*es all the time, drove me crazy!! They were so disrespectful to them as well, yes I know they are there to have sex, but they don’t have to treat them like that.

Katherine’s age. SHE’S 38, IT’S NOT OLD! All the way through the book there are people mentioning about her age, saying she’s really old. 😡

Katherine’s daughter somehow misses all the signs through her life, that her mum is being abused physically and mentally by her dad. He beats her so badly at times that she can hardly walk, yet her daughter never notices??? 😂 Is she a bit stupid?

Katherine hiding her abuse from her daughter is terrible. As Michael her ex doesn’t really care about her, he just wants Katherine and uses their daughter to get to her.

Missing parts of the plot, what happened to Tina who is a co-worker of Katherine and hates her. Who is the enforcer? The road captain? Who are all the Mc members? I got to know three or four of them, and then not really well.

I did really enjoy it but there are few problems with it, and I never really bought into their ‘relationship.’

This is a new to me author (I think) and I enjoyed this quick, easy read after reading some angsty stuff.

There were some typos that kind of distracted me from the story like wrong names in certain places and Katherine’s daughters hair being amber when we first meet her and then later being blond.

I also didn’t understand why the hell Katherine didn’t tell her daughter how abusive Bethany’s father was toward Katherine. I read reviews saying the same thing and I thought maybe Bethany was a child and that’s why she didn’t tell her but when I found out Bethany was a grown ass women over twenty I was like wtf? Why in world would she allow her daughter to even be in the same room as that monster especially after what he did to her. To Bethany her dad freaking walked on water and that’s probably the reason for the missed star.

Other than that I liked the storyline. I liked both Katherine and Patch. He was super possessive and obsessed with her which I loooove and I liked that Katherine held her ground about not wanting to be around certain things.

It did kind of end abruptly. I wish we could have seen the guys confronting the villains but we were only told what happened.

Not for me

I've been n a book slump & came across this book while browsing. The blurb sounded good & had raving reviews. I actually liked all the characters but the writing, for me @ least was very juvenile. Did finish the book but won't be reading anymore 🇮🇪💚

Sloppy

Good story marred by bad editing. Made up words/near misses like coordinance and pig stye, careless grammar like confusing your and you're and no idea of the difference between plural and possessive bring immersion in the story to a sudden, unpleasant halt.

I enjoyed this book, although sometimes it was difficult to keep reading. The heroine was subjected to physical abuse and SA that are described in the book. And there’s trafficking. The hero and heroine don’t cheat on each other, but the heroine was cheated on in the past.
If you can get past the triggers, this book is really good. The characters are complex and some of them are surprising. I liked especially that Katherine never badmouthed her ex to their daughter. That shows class.
Katherine is very likable. She has put her life together after fleeing her abusive ex husband. She got a job as a waitress at a bar owned by the MC and even danced on the bar à la Coyote Ugly. She’s brave and has guts. She’s also sweet. I like that she’s a little older than your average heroine.
Patch… oh the man is hot. I liked when he got all possessive about Katherine without stifling her or taking away her freedom. He was respectful of her agency and of her past.
The MC has that frat house vibe when the book starts, but each of the men has a distinct personality or characteristic. There’s OW drama, for those who love that.
In all, the book was a satisfying beginning to a promising series.
Here are my book stats:
MMC/FMC- Patch and Katherine
Genre- MC Romance
Heat- open door, explicit
Safety? N
Triggers- see above and add torture, violence, language.
Tropes- Midlife Love, Abused Heroine, Single Mom, Instalove, Dysfunctional Family FTW, Found Family.

When Katherine began working at the Devil's Den a bar owned by the Devil's House MC, she has her favorite, Patch the President of the MC. She doesn't have any clue that he is completely enthralled with her.

Patch doesn't think that Katherine could want a hardened man like him but with the support of his club he takes a chance and is thrilled with the outcome. Katherine though has a past that enrages him, he wants to wrap her in bubble wrap to protect her but with trouble brewing outside his club can he keep her safe?

Great beginning to this series. I liked Patch, all the men in this series have a dark past and it was really fascinating to see the hard and soft sides of Patch. Katherine is his queen and once he is settled with his decision about her magic happens. Definitely reading the rest in series.

2.5 stars. I liked the idea of Katherine and Patch, but overall their story felt unreal. The villains in this story were a bit OTT. I just couldn’t believe Katherine wouldn’t clue her daughter in on her ex-husband/her daughter’s father’s abuse. The abuse was extreme and disturbing, yet she never mentioned it to her daughter and let her believe her dad was an OK guy, watching her spend every Sunday afternoon with him? Nope.

Good!

Patch (The Devil's House MC: West Virginia Book 1) by Mhairi O'Reilly & @mhairioreillyauthor is a new to me author. Patch & Katherine meet at the bar that the MC owns. Patch saw Katherine & knew she was it for him. Katherine was attracted to him but her prior marriage was abusive so she is skittish. After a few months of getting to know each other they have sex. 🥰 They fall in love, Katherine moves in with him & they get married. 🥰😍

Love this MC

These guys are amazing and interesting characters. A past that she wants to keep hidden and a man that doesn’t think he is good enough for any woman find each other and make each other stronger. An MC that need changes to happen if they want to grow and be more like their other chapter.

Enjoyable read

However, Patch and Katherine missed opportunities to exchange backstories. He never told her about his eye or the meaning of his tats. Her backstory befor Michael is a blank. Also, she was abused for 18 years, but jumped into bed without huge reservations. Trama doesnt heal that fast. Best thi g about the story, the dude with the kitten.

I loved the story of Katherine and Patch! Patch is the President of The Devil's House MC and Katherine is a divorced single mom. Her ex was a total abusive douch!! I can't believe her daughter didn't know anything about the abuse her mom went through but I guess like real life...many friends and family don't know about the abuse that happens. Can't wait to read more of the brother's books!

Eh I liked it

I liked, not loved this. I understand it's basically a novella, so it'd be quick but the fact that the end was so quick, and frankly, unresolved was a major disappointment. Like, all that lead up and just bam, done. It really threw me off when I hit the epilogue. It made me not want to continue on if all the books are unfinished.

Predictable

The story kept my interest to continue reading but was highly predictable. There were no real twists or suspenseful moments. Just boy meets his special girl, boy wants girl and she wants him too, boy saves girl, girl gets pregnant, everyone is happy.

They may be Old but still has fight

Good characters well written and each seems to have a story within them. This book has some trigger points, so be warned. You can see the relationship building as the story progresses.

Decent, quick read

I like the story line, the love story was definitely the focus, not the club. There were just several grammatical errors.
