I enjoyed this book quite a lot. Let's be frank - it is dated but it also talks about real commercial compilers, not some academic project. The VAX-11 PL/1 compiler (and C compiler) were shipped and maintained. They were well regarded. So, it's good to read how the teams did this work, at least from a historical perspective, even if the approach would never be followed today (nor would there be the need.)
