Captive must be read before Stolen, as certain characters' stories are carried on throughout the story.

He's the thief .
She's been stolen.
He plays the enemy, she plays the temptress; they play their roles to a tee.
Their relationship—consumed with deception and sordid passion—was born from chaos, therefore it will end in chaos.
One will commit the ultimate betrayal, the other will stop at nothing for penance, and a third , hiding in plain sight, wants vengeance.
As their worlds collide, and their lives fall apart around them, one thing becomes
Surrender together...or die alone.

Trigger human trafficking, dubious consent, emotional and physical abuse. Stolen is not for the faint of heart.

I wanna know.. WHY IS NOBODY ELSE TALKING, SCREAMING, YELLING, SHOUTING ABOUT THIS MASTERPIECE?!?? I'm so wrecked and devastated because I finished this yesterday night and I don't know what to do with myself :(
I’ve been waiting for this to come out since I read Captive 3 years ago. I can confidently say that book completely changed my standards and to this day, lives rent free on my head. It’s been a long time since I’ve read it, a lot has happened in my life and I’ve read many books in between, so I decided to re-read Captive before starting this to refresh my memory and immerse myself right back in this world and give it justice. I suggest you do the same if you don’t remember well all the secondary characters from the crew and their storylines because many details are going to be VERY important to be able to follow the story.
Let me start by saying, the hero Eman/Elek might be right up there with Nixon (hero from book 1), I feel like he did everything right to earn my love (and the heroine’s of course) and that’s saying something since I consider Nixon one of my favorite book boyfriends (if not THE favorite, hand in hand with Zade aka Zaddy aka Adelaine’s love from H.D Carlton’s duet.. but I digress lol).
Eman was a delicious man, so obsessed and in love with Lena/Lyra, so unhinged, devoted, relentless, faithful and hot for her, and he never ever gave up on her even if that meant literally losing his loved ones.
The story is complicated and rough and heartbreaking at times and deals with very dark triggers such as human trafficking, rape, abuse of all kinds, starvation, drug use and all the above was on page and pretty detailed.
Just like Captivated was, this book is divided in three parts: middle, start and ending. I felt like it was a genius choice for book 1 since it was very relationship focused but not as necessary in this one? Sometimes I was left frustrated during conversations between all characters because too much of the plot was left to the imagination and I just wanted answers, but maybe it’s my impatience talking and eventually everything is explained (pretty much at the very end). Just beware you have to pay attention to every character and every detail otherwise you’ll get lost.
The heroine Lena dealt with so much trauma and every kind of abuse you can imagine but she was never pathetic or a doormat, I felt for her and what she had to go through was horrifying.
Her and Eman had such an amazing wonderful chemistry and I loved every single one of their interactions. I just wish we could’ve gotten even more… more of their banter, more sweet moments, more passionate moments, more sex between them, and more of their happy ending at last. It felt a little cut short and like I was being robbed of their time together, I loved them so much it hurt to let them go :(
Overall, I know I’m saying a lot without really saying anything but I’d suggest you go in blind without spoilers so you can enjoy the ride as much as I did. You won’t regret it. This author is absolutely skilled and so so creative and she deserves all the credit and merit possible.
Next book is going to be Blue’s and I can’t wait!

I kinda enjoyed this. This was very dark and the story was told starting with the middle then the beginning and the end. It could be very confusing and I almost gave up on it because it but I’m glad I stuck with it. As much as I enjoyed & liked the MCs, Elek and Lena, the real star of the book for me was Blue. Enjoyed seeing how my sweet Blue became this unhinged character and I’m really looking forward to his book.

haunting, erotic but extremely dark and not in a way that is gratuitously trying to be different but subtle enough that we can interpret the situation in our mind. i prefer this style of writing and respect authors who don't overdo it because i don't want to read about the specifics of certain things like the end scene for example which was not expected at all and i had to take a moment to process. i can see why this story took so long to come out cuz it all needed to be laid out so we can follow it and so that there are no unanswered questions. very well written and weaved together with a plot twist i didnt see coming but i did wonder early on. idk how she comes up with this but its very genius done. also heard this author has a brain disease???? so i appreciate her pushing this out. i think ive hounded her ten thousand times and shes never failed to respodn. very active author. one of my fav reads of 2023. bravo rj i hope captive gets the attention it deserves

Unique and captivating dark tale

No one does what this author does. She hooks you with the middle at the beginning, leaves all kinds of breadcrumbs with surprises that make sense (I hate when reveals happen but don’t make sense within the plot) and ties it all together. The end is a true ending while whetting your need for Flynn’s story. Don’t miss this. If you do you’ll miss an exciting action adventure love story that will pull you in a blender full of love, spice, darkness and amazing characters.

DNF at 32%. Just can't get into the characters. There's too much "mystery" where all the characters seem to know what's going on, but the reader is kept in the dark. I tried, but can't get into the characters.

READ IT!!!!

I devoured this book and currently have a serious book hangover. To me, this book is even better than the first installment. It does so well building on the first book, and had me genuinely so perplexed at how well the twists and turns intertwined with the first book. The story unfolds in the sequence of middle, beginning, and then end. It’s a very different and refreshing take on how stories normally play out. This author truly has a way with words!!

REVIEW:

I read Captive (Nixon and Vixen’s story) a little over a year ago and LOVED it. Like seriously, it’s still one of my favorite books of all time. Nixon is the epitome of an antihero. I also found myself curious about his crew and the secrets and untold stories each of them had yet to tell.

So when I saw Stolen was released it was a no brainer for me to pick it up. It was a good story, but I will say it wasn’t as phenomenal as Captive was for several reasons.

First, this one follows the same format that the author used for Captive — telling the middle first, then the beginning, then the end.

This format for Captive was brilliant because we were supposed to be wondering if Vixen was really an unwilling captive. Also she had some self-inflicted memory loss and we (as the reader) were supposed to be on the same page as her until her memory returned. So this format was honestly a genius way of presenting the story.

For this book I found it rather unnecessary and frustrating. “The Middle” part of the book (which we are told at the beginning) just left me feeling annoyed and frustrated. They were constantly having to talk around what happened because we (as the reader) aren’t supposed to know yet. Perhaps if “The Middle” (Part I) wasn’t so long (170 pages) it wouldn’t have been so bad. But I also didn’t think it was even a necessary narrative device in this case. It turned out okay though, and once we got past Part I the book did get better.

This book also jumps between first person (for Lyra/Lena) and third person for everyone else. I don’t like when books do this because I find it disorienting. Captive did this too and I didn’t love that about the book, but it seems like it’s going to be the common trend for this series. Not a fan of that.

The last issue I had with this book was I didn’t feel the same kind of passion and soul-altering love between Eman/Elek and Lyra/Lena. We are told it’s there, but it’s just…not. Maybe it’s because with Nixon and Vixen’s story their story centered around their relationship and her struggling to come to terms with wanting to be with him. But in this one, we have a very heavy focus on the outside threats (Dmitri and to a lesser degree Flynn/Blue for a time). I don’t know what it was exactly, but I just didn’t feel the deep connection between them like I did with Nixon and Vixen in Captive.

I also wasn’t much of a fan of Lena/Lyra. I just didn’t sense much of a personality from her. She’s kind of boring and a blank slate. Eman was more interesting by comparison. But not by that much.

There were definitely things I did like about the book though!

Once we got past Part I (“The Middle”) of the book, it picked up a lot and was more interesting.

Despite not liking Lena that much, I did find her story interesting. But Dmitri must be a total idiot. How fucking stupid is it to write/tattoo the keys to an entire fortune on a person’s body? How is this secure at all? Obviously not that much since it was all stolen from him! haha That whole thing was really dumb though. I don’t see why anyone would think that’s a good idea.

I also liked the slow reveal of who Blue was. I did figure it out quite early on because of the nicknames he called Lena (Bones and Lovely). So yeah, I sort of put that together right when we met Blue and first saw him interact with Lena. But I actually didn’t find knowing that to be a downside. Instead, I was able to see Flynn from a new perspective and really think about his interactions with Eman (and the others) in the past more.

I am really glad to be diving into Flynn/Blue’s story next. He was quite a mystery in Captive and I wasn’t exactly sure what my thoughts were about him. I liked some things about him, but he also felt kind of fake. And it turns out…he was! He’s been playing a part all this time. But for his girl, to get her back. Which is so romantic. So I’m really looking forward to his story. I also really loved him as his real self (Blue) and I hope we see more of that side of him in his book.

I do really hope Flynn/Blue and Briony’s book is next. It seems like it will be based on the ending of this book. But yeah, as much as I’m curious about Doll and Hobbs (and want their story one day), I’m more curious about Flynn/Blue and Briony’s story since it ties in so closely to Elek and Lena’s story.

But I love the crew as a whole and I hope the author will end up doing a book for all of them: Flynn/Blue, Rowan, Tiger, Tyrone, and (of course) Hobbs and Doll. The dynamic with all of them is so entertaining. I love how the “crew meetings” are basically just all of them bitching at each other and Hobbs complaining about how much he hates all of them. lol It’s hilarious and I just love them all when they’re together.

Overall the book was great in places but not so good in others. It’s probably too long for what it is. But I did love being back in this world with this motley crew of criminals. And I enjoyed seeing Eman/Elek and Lyra/Lena get to their HEA.

This started off really strong. The writing was raw and original. There was suspense. The pacing was great. The ending was somewhat disappointing and felt cliched. It became kind of cheesy. It also seems like it wasn’t edited. There are a lot of typos. It wasn’t as good as the first in the Captive series. It felt like she rushed the ending and made it generic. Eman became much less interesting as the book progressed.

I love this author writing style for this series. Its middle beginning end. Really interesting way to story tell. But leaves you pretty confused.
I thought there was so much dark/ick for the h that it was hard for me to fall in love with the story. That is personal preference. I did love the twists as the story unfolds and then comes back together.
I can’t wait to read blues and briony’s story

First let me say once again, I wanted so much to give this book 5 stars. With better editing it could have easily been one of my all time favorites.

This story was split up into three sections. We start in the Middle where we find Lyra handcuffed to Eman and pulled into a meeting with all of the team members from book one. Her mouth is taped shut, she's bloody and bruised. Eman's barely hanging on with multiple injuries. Then Flynn closely follows in the same busted up condition. When asked what happened, Flynn immediately says he fell down the stairs. So of course that is the explanation for all three of them.

Next comes the Beginning were we discover Eman/Elek has been watching Lyra/Lola for a long time. She's the favorite slave of a powerful russian mob leader who runs slave auctions every few months, and he becomes obsessed with her. He starts planning how he is going to make her his.

And finally we have the End where we find answers to most of the frustrating Middle and Beginning questions that were still hanging on unexplained, causing some frustration, and have nagged at us throughout the story.

The story is told in the first person in Lyra's chapters, and as the chapters switch to Elek and Blue's, it's told in 3rd person. And it's a long one again, at 542 pages. But the pages turned very quickly.

I enjoyed this story immensely, and once again I would call it odd, outstanding and surprisingly unique. It was chaotic, violent, toxic, dark, had lots of twists, lots of angst and steamy sex scenes. The remarkable and very likeable secondary characters, that one could only hope get their own stories -- Nixon & Vix (from book one), Hobbs, Doll, Tiger, Rowan, Tyrone and Flynn are all in the story once again. All of the characters were intregal in creating the story that was told, but most of them had smaller parts to play in this book. I sort of missed them, and wished for a bit more from them in this story. I loved their banter and the chaos that they bring to the table.

The relationship between Eman and Lyra continually had push and pull, then pull and push. I actually found myself loving Lyra more than Eman this time, but still loved them both. The biggest twist was with Blue. And I was definitely in love with him by the end. His story is next and I can't wait.

So now for the not so good part. Grammar errors again. There were numerous times where words were left out or the wrong word was used. There were less instances in this second book, but they were still present.

Anyway, I did love the story, I did love all the charcters, and will be reading the next in the series, actually can hardly wait for it. I know that this book took two years to be published. My hope is book three comes faster, as it may fall off my radar in if it takes two years to be published. And I still hope the editing gets better, the author really has the skill to tell a very interesting, enchanting story, just needs a better editor. So 4 stars once again.

Flynn was just introduced and apparently the next book is about him. The problem is in the previous book (Captive) is that Flynn is shown as a playboy and he’s pretty flirty with vixen. Here (in stolen) he says this:

“Not keeling over this time, are you, Lovely? Keep your nose out of it, will you? I want you clean when I take you for myself—”

So basically he’s trying to con, F anybody on his way to rescuing his lady? I’m a little bit uncomfortable with that considering it’s already established he’s slept with some staff at Nixon’s hotel. In the end (I skipped ahead and read it), he asks the crew for help with his woman. Briony. I'll wait until this book is released to read Stolen as I despise OW drama and this author isn't exactly "safe" (for me- I hate all types of OW).

Furthermore, it'll be a little hard to read it anyway considering if that book has an HEA, that girl will have to meet the crew where her man has tried to seduce with the women of TWO of its members (Vixen confirmed. Can someone confirm Lena for me?) and MEET the hostess that he has most definitely slept with at Nixon's hotel. Erm no thank you.

Captivating Dark Romance.

I didn't think I'd find another dark and delicious anti hero to love as much as I did with Nixon, but Eman definitely gives out the same dangerous vibes.
He's every bit as possessive and crazy when it comes to protecting the woman he loves.

As with Captive this story has a wonderfully complicated, messy and intricately woven plot where attention to detail is key. This series isn't for the faint hearted, but it's exhilarating, dark and twisted madness if you're brave enough.

I absolutely love this crew there are some fantastic characters I'm dying to know more about. They might give each other hell, but they are there for each other when it matters. I can't wait for more, bring on Flynn he's a very intriguing guy.👏❤

RJ LEWIS aid a masterful writer , it’s rare for me to read something she has written without just being in awe of her ability
That said , the beginning of this book was mass chaos , I almost didn’t continue with this story because of it. I stopped in the middle of the “middle” and needed a break. I just was not connecting. Fortunately I did return to this book and as soon as the 1st part was finished , it got better and was easier to connect with .
It did not cast the same spell as the first book in the series , captive , but I did enjoy it and look forward to reading Blue’s story .

I didn’t expect it to be just as good as Captive, but it was. There were bits of it that were a little too drawn out, and a few things got muddled and a little confusing. I had to re-read a few chapters to make sure the plot twists weren’t getting too twisted. But the story itself was top notch! Can’t wait for Flynn’s book!
