Very good book, covers everything which is essential to Java. I subtracted 2 stars because of some typos in the code (semantic errors) and because it does not cover the newest features of newest Java. If I would read this book at the time of its release, I would gave it 4 stars.

Was it useful? Yes.
Was it also the most boring thing I've ever read in my life and wouldn't wish it on my own enemy? Also yes.
