This is a book about a very unique subject. This is the true story of Elena Hanuse who dreamed all of her childhood to walk across America. She left Jan.4, 1984 at the Golden Gate Bridge and she arrived at the Statue of Liberty on July 4, 1985. The book does drag in certain places of travel. What she learns on her walk was America is it's people, and when you get talking with them, you discover that there are many more Americans out there doing things right than the other way around.
Have seen this book gets 2-3 points on other sites and I'd have to agree, but if you like walking books, which I do, then this is a book you may wnat to read. Ms. Hanuse has a dream to walk across America, which she does. She has no real hiking skill, trains a little then sets out at age 53 to realize her dream. I felt she spent too much tine describing the first half of her journey, then gave pretty short work on the second half.
