I wasn't aware that the "book" was only 20 pages or so long and was terribly surprised not by just the short length, but by the abruptness of where it ends. I had known it was first in a series but I had been expecting novels. This was more like the first half of a short story.

Now, understanding it more as a serial format for one story, I'm not bitter at it for that, just surprised. As a long time buyer of comic books, I'm also not heartbroken over paying the $1.99 or $2.99 I paid, but I did thi
1.5* rounded up.

First off, this has a cliffhanger ending, so all you learn about really is the setup of the two people intending to have sex with each other.

Sorry, but this isn't even in the same league as what I'm also currently reading erotica-wise (C. Mistry), and while the SPaG was adequate, the content was boring.

As a BDSMer I dislike the way this appears to set up a woman to be played by an allegedly recently divorced guy who never once comes out with being yours truly, the domly Dom. The

'Summer's Journey' is the story of a 40-ish divorcee out to find her sexual self again. This is a great story about dealing with a new life after the ending of an old one, and the beginnings of a whole new sexual adventure. I'm really looking forward to reading Vol. II! ...more

Let me say at the outset, that if Goodreads allowed me to give this 4 1/2 stars I would have. This novella is closer to a 5 than a 4.

Summer’s Journey, Volume 1: Losing Control is the story of a fortyish woman coming to grips with a divorce after nearly 20 years of marriage. Summer initially mourns the death of the life she’s known then decides to embrace her circumstances. This is her opportunity for sexual rebirth through sexual exploration; and her journey begins by finding the right man to jo

Summer is a fortyish, recent divorcee, who wants to rediscover and reinvent her solitary sex life. She is an average woman, not a porn star wannabe, not cover model gorgeous, or someone who thought they were overly adventurous. This is the start of her journey to erotic self awareness.
I will be totally honest about reviewing this book. I ventured forth with a lot of trepidation. This was a “new 2 me” author, and a self published one at that. I have had some less than pleasant experiences going

The first in a romance/ erotica series, this digital short presents us with Summer, a newly divorced middle-aged woman seeking fresh adventures. To find this, she begins to explore her restored sexual freedom by treading upon new ground and experimenting in ways she hadn’t really considered in the past.

Summer laments the bedroom boredom of her failed marriage as well as the lingering resentment that had existed between her and her ex due to their unsuccessful attempts to have children. She finds

This book is a romance/erotica with a twist. I love how the author puts you in the place of the main character 'Summer' and takes you along the beginning of what seems will be a sensual ride in losing control of one's inhibitions. This is a very short volume f.y.i. and I would like to see more of this multi volume series for I feel reviewing it now might not do it justice. Well written in first person and draws the reader in along for the ride. My only regret is that it is way too short and prob ...more

This is one of the best Erotica stories l have read in a long time. I was fortunate enough to read both parts, part one is the one featured here, 'Losing Control' and it left me with such a huge desire to read what happened next that l simply had no choice but to buy the next book in the series 'Alphabetical Assignation'.
Both books held my attention and had me squirming with desire at every sensual twist and turn. Fantastic!

if you buy this one you better get the second one too at the same time cause this one leaves off at a cliff

but the writing is one of the most natural feeling, smooth reads ever. it was so realistic.

ive put off on buying the next one cause i just didnt want to spending money on a short story but i have to admit that ive been thinking alot about whats next for summer..... once the hotel door opens :}

What a fantastic prelude to a story that has certainly piqued my interests... I think just about any woman would be able to relate to Summers story in one way or another.
In 'losing Control' I was introduced to an author who's words quite simply fell off the page making this short story a pleasure to read,
I will definitely be heading back to Amazon to get the second volume. I can't wait to see what Mark has in store for Summer *squirms* now that she has finally surrendered her control ;-)

The story felt like it just dragged for me. I'm going to be honest here, from the start it felt like the author is trying to do her own version perhaps 50 Shades of Gray. It seems like this is a current pattern among writers now. Its becoming a huge turn off to me. I thank the author for offering it Free, I took a chance hoping I'd like it but it just didn't work for me. ...more

Yeah I am really not understanding what any of the fuss is about with this book. I mean I just started reading it and it's over. For that little time and not very much going on in it if I didn't already have the 2nd one I def wouldn't buy it.

This is more of a short story than a book. Just as it got interesting, the story ended and prompts you to buy the next "book" for 99 cents. I'm not going to pay 99 cents for 30 pages when I can read entire books for free with Prime Reading.
I was given this book to read by the author through Erotic Enchantments for an honest review, thank you.

This is a self published series based on the author's life after her divorce, and choice's that she made in moving forward and re-discovering herself. It is a very well written narrative that shows the courage and determination needed to go forward with life and jump back into the dating pool. It also shows the feelings and thoughts associated with a divorce and that past relationship, the doubts you feel afterwards and the questions that inevitably arise.

This is a very very quick read, in fact, it took me less than an hour. I think this is just the background story of Summer, allowing you to learn what she has been through and what she now desires.

Summer is recently divorced and now on the lookout for new adventure to try and intensify her sexual experiences. Her married life lacked the “spice” she desperately desired.

After debating what to do, Summer signs up to net based dating programmes and meets Mark. Mark is also recently divorced and loo

After her divorce, Summer places a dating add online and winds up finding herself on a date with Mark. He comes up with an interesting website for Summer that basically says that he wants Summer to relinquish all control for the dates to him and that she opens herself up to him and trust him. The ending of the book is really just the beginning of the story.

I loved the writing of this book. You get the sense of realism in the way that the author writes. It is almost as if you are reading a journ

Summer has done a fantastic job of teasing readers in this first installment of her self discovery series. The story is written in first person, something like a journal, and is about a middle aged divorcee who is looking for self and sexual satisfaction while keeping vivid track of her adventures.

I really enjoyed the modern technological aspect to the story with the website that is set up to entice and intrigue Summer. I think that aspect is very original and fun and was well played in the sto

It didn’t occur to me until a few pages in that this is essentially an autobiography. We experience life through Summer’s eyes as she’s reaching out to rediscover herself after a long stagnant marriage. From trying to get back into the dating world to finding a surprising candidate, it’s an exciting, heartfelt, and very real trip through an honest woman’s mind. It’s very short as it’s only the beginning, so I won’t say anything more than I really can’t wait to see just what all Mark has in store ...more

This is a great introduction to what's coming and why from a new writer. Considering she's self-pubbed, it's a really good beginning. Actually, I shouldn't qualify that -- even if she wasn't self-pubbed, it's a really good beginning. I've had some shaky luck with self-pubbed authors, and this was refreshing. Mark sure got a lot of insight into Summer on that first date. I was just as indignant as she when he got up from the date and left. The nerve!! :-) But what happened next was very interesti ...more

This first installment of the Summer's Journey series is a tantalizing glimpse of what is a wonderfully written exploration of sexuality and intimacy. While this first book doesn't contain any sex, the chemistry between our main character and her suitor is evident. Knowing that it is based on Summer's real-life experiences just makes it that much more alluring. Volume 1 basically gives you the background on Summer and Mark – how they met and how they coped with their divorces. Mark is a swoon worthy character *sighs* and Summer is a woman that knows what she wants and won’t settle for less - *pumps fist* “you go girl”. I really enjoyed the author’s, Summer Daniels writing style, she interacts with the reader and I really appreciate that. I can’t wait to read Volume 2 – from what I’ve heard it’s going to be steamy… so ladies get ready *winks*
