Simply written book, presumably aimed at children/young people, but very interesting nonetheless, especially when read on a West country trip. I had no idea of all the exploits of Drake and Raleigh. Monarch approved piracy caused by desire for treasure stolen by the Spanish from South and Central America. No one comes out very well by 21st century standards. I would have liked to know more details of the sources used by the author.

Easy to read and rather enjoyable. Chapters swap between Drake's and Ralegh's life.
