Matthew is taking a break before going to university, working at a cafe in Seattle. He's expecting to spend a few months meeting people, having fun and generally living it up before hitting the books. Then he meets Drakon, a passionate, masculine man with an animal magnetism that draws Matthew in. When Drakon offers Matt a job, he thinks the man is full of shit. But it soo ...more

What was the point??

Initially, Matt and Drakon are interesting characters and this really could have been a much better story, but it just seemed to go in circles. The dialogue is simplistic and repetitive. Matt's repeated correcting of Drakon calling him 'Pet' was cute the first five or so times. Not so cute at 300. Matt also seemed incapable of having a rational thought and following it through to completion. He throws a spectacular tantrum when D refuses to allow him to leave the house long e

Not the best Sean Michael novel I've read, and in the end kind of boring and seemingly pointless. Drakon [referred to constantly as "D" which annoyed me] is a dragon and eats people to survive - unashamed of this fact, and not easily prone to understanding that Matthew, a human who doesn't eat meat, has trouble coming to terms with.

I think one of the things that bothers me most about this novel is how Drakon NEVER CHANGES. He doesn't adjust, he doesn't adapt, he doesn't compromise. Matthew is th
So a lot of the previous reviews are pretty accurate about this story. From reading the blurb, "A Private Hunger" seemed like it would be a good, hot story about a dragon shifter and his...mate?

So what this story actually was a story with regurgitated albeit raunchy sex scenes between two men (though I question if Matthew was due to his incessant giggling through out the entire story.)Drakon, the dragon shifter, had so much potential to be a stronger character if there was more development put i

I don't usually rate book low, and I do love Sean Michael's books, so I feel like I need to give an explanation here. The reason I didn't like this book is because of D. (view spoiler) ...more

Does a story about a dragon shifter who basically keeps his lover couped up in a tower house and will never let him out - and I mean NEVER - count as romance? Does the fact that said dragon will inevitably end of up eating the man he loves, because that is how things always end between him and his mates, count as a HEA? My answer: Nope.

#123 0n the Twisted Sex List

This book was defiantly one twisted book, I had a really hard time getting into the book, usually I can read a book this length all in the same day and it took me all week. This book is almost pure sex. Drakon (D) is a dragon shifter who eats people and has predestined mates who have a hand print on their body as a

I want to begin by saying that if I had been able this selection would have gotten a star and a half. Secondly I also want to make it clear from the beginning of this review that I have read some wonderful stories by this author; in particular her Hammer series. Unfortunately this novel, A Private Hunger, was not on par with that series...not by a long shot. The story, such as it is, introduces us to Matthew, a sweet college student living away from his family for a year. Now, the author glances ...more

I like books which do not pretend to be anything else but porn. The problem creeps out if there is hint of plot, which is stepped in to the dust by load of porn without any explanation to the reader. Sean Michael's books have one very good parts and very bad parts. The good ones are those racy sex scenes, where everything fucks anything and other turn around. The bad part is plot if author decides to put some in the book. The plots start with good and intriguing parts and are undeveloped and lea ...more

This book was "Ok". I've wavered back and forth between 2 and 3 stars. I'm going to say I like it, because, well, I like really hot sex in my books :o) and that's what I got...a LOT of really hot sex. But that's the problem, sometimes you can get too much of a good thing. There wasn't too much plot. This book had what I felt like was a lot of potential. The author could have developed the main characters "attributes" more and made that more of the storyline. I thought there could have been more ...more

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours ...more
