TAKE TWO THEYRE SMAL

Rate this book

Eve wants fourth grade to be different. She's decided this is the year she's going to make new friends. What she doesn't need is help from Amy and May, her twin sisters, who are just starting kindergarten. Then Eve learns her class is to be teamed up with the kindergartners in a buddy program. There's no getting away from the twin terrors!

The buddy program pairs one fourth grader with each kindergartner. You'd think the odds would be against Eve's being stuck with one of her sisters. Then again, you'd think the odds would be against the fourth graders and kindergartners having teachers who are sisters! Eve's sure having her twin sisters around in school will mean nothing but trouble -- but maybe a little trouble is just what she needs to shake up her life!

Elizabeth Levy lends her sure touch to a funny novel about family, friends, and what happens when you mix the two together.

Elizabeth Levy has been writing and publishing books for over thirty years and sometimes now she meets kids whose parents read her books when they were children! She has written over 80 books, a number that continues to surprise her, as it surprises her how long she's been at it.

Over the years they've printed lots of her books - over five million of them.

She loves to try writing different types of books - everything from funny mysteries to novels about kids who get in trouble to history.

One of the most pleasant surprises about writing is that she's been invited to travel all over the country and even the world speaking to children, teachers, and librarians. She's made some wonderful friendships and gotten lots of ideas for her books. One of the most special treats is that kids have drawn wonderful pictures of one of her favorite characters, Fletcher.

She grew up in Buffalo, New York, then went to Brown University, where she majored in history. When she graduated, she came to New York City and worked for ABC-TV and then for Senator Robert Kennedy. She has lived in New York ever since, and she loves it. She knows all the best places for salami, she has run four marathons, and she has completed many 5-borough bike tours, so she thinks she really knows this place well.

At certain times of the year, she can be found out at Shea Stadium watching her team, the New York Mets. She has always loved baseball.

Mostly she enjoys hanging out with her friends. They spend lots of time going to movies or plays, playing sports, having meals together.

When she's alone and not writing, she is usually reading. She reads mysteries a lot, always has, which is probably why many of her books are mysteries.

This book is the sequel to the book Big Trouble in Little Twinsville. We read the first book recently and immediately borrowed this book from our local library. We enjoyed continuing the story and seeing Eve's conflicting emotions about her twin little sisters.

I felt like the story rang true for a girl in the fourth grade, whose pesky little sisters seem to take all of the time and attention of their parents. And I loved to see a mixture of frustration and acceptance and other feelings in between woven throughout the tale. The teacher's idea to have the fourth graders mentor the kindergarteners is fascinating and I wonder how often this happens in schools.

The black and white illustrations are sparse, but they complement the story nicely. We really enjoyed reading this story together and we would love to read more about these characters, but I believe there's only the two books.
