Love the movie, hate, hate, HATE the marketing. The moral, which could not be presented more clearly, is that true beauty comes from within. Belle, the heroine of the story, is an intelligent and sensible girl who's usually got her nose in a book. Throughout virtually the whole film she wears this practical blue dress:

description

But in 95% of the merchandise - dolls, posters, lunch-boxes etc - she is depicted wearing her admittedly tasteful but rather surprisingly revealing yellow ball gown, gazing up at

Never been the biggest fan of Disney's version of Beauty and the Beast for plot reasons, but I've always loved the art and the visuals of the motion picture film, and it's nice to have a copy in paper for my collection, and for gazing at without having to rewatch. The artwork looks superior on the screen, though, especially the colours and facial expressions. ...more

I must say that I think Beauty and the Beast is one of the best Disney stories. I love how Belle is able to look beyond the physical appearance of the Beast.

You may be wondering why on Earth I am posting so many reviews of short kids' books, and the answer is that I'm moving house for the first time since I was a toddler. I'm essentially having to pack up my childhood here!! Having to say goodbye to so many books is devastating, but on the plus side, it gives me a reason to sit and scroll throw all these gorgeous picture books. This one is an early reader's Book of the Film of the brilliant Beauty and the Beast (my favourite Disney film as well!!) a ...more

Personal Response: Growing up, this was always my favorite story. I read this book to Emilee. Emilee's favorite part was when they got married. Her least favorite part was when Belle got locked up in the cage in the castle. She also doesn't like Gaston because he is mean.

Plot Summary: Belle is an ordinary girl who loves to read. She lives with her father. When he goes missing, she tries to find him and ends up in a castle. Belle doesn't realize that it's home to the beast. He captures her and l

This is a great classic fairytale suitable for children in years 1 to 3 to enjoy. It has dialogue, bright cartoon illustrations and the moral of seeing past appearances. In the past my village school has been to see the pantomime so this book would be good to read to introduce the story. It is quite short so it's more suitable for younger children. ...more

Once upon a time, there lived a little girl who had just begun to venture in the land of books. One day she stumbled upon a fairytale story unlike anything she had ever imagined, and it was the tale of "Beauty and the Beast"....
She grew to love it beyond measure and what endeared her to the story has become some of the best parts of her as she has grown into adulthood.

"Beauty and the Beast" is so precious, special and beautiful to me because it's the first story that taught me to be a decent hu

This is a great short read for students that want to tie words in with familiar pictures from the movie. The students already know the characters, so the text will be more approachable for the readers. It tells the classic story of the beautiful woman falling in love with a male despite his beastly features. In the end she is truly rewarded because of her love for him he eventually becomes a prince. I think this is a great moral for a story. It wouldn't have to mean the person you love will beco ...more

Brett, Jan. Beauty and the Beast. New York: Clarion, 1989. Print. Beauty and the Beast is a great and fun book for students to be able to read. This book tells the story of how a princess and a beast fall in love with each-other. This book is probably right for the age ranges of about 6-12. This book is a great book of how to not judge someone based on how they look like along with many other books in today's world. This book is a great example of how much fun it would be to make sure that looki ...more

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales. This book is an abbreviated version of the movie and I thought it was done well. The entire story was captured in a short period of time with short pages and beautiful pictures to help children read the story and stay engaged. The story could be used for a fun read aloud, for a class library or for a variety of introductions to a lesson. One lesson that it could be used for is introducing titles or chapters. The story was broken into differ ...more

Beauty and the Beast is a great children's book for ages 5-8. Beauty and the Beast is about a spell put on a prince to make him a beast until love's fist kiss. Belle, the heroine in the book, goes to the Beast's castle to get her father back, whom is captured. In return for her dad, Belle must stay as the prisoner instead. Beauty and the Beast is a timeless classic about love and liking yourself for who you are. The illustrations in the book are very well done. They are big and the coloring coin ...more

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite of all fairy tales. It is a story of the folly of quick judgements and the hope for redemption and the healing powers of love. The beast made a mistake when young and it has cursed his life. The only way to save him is if someone can see beyond him looking like a beast and see the kinder man inside and love him. And belle is just that special person. ( All the wonderful enchanted characters in the castle are a plus!)

This would be an opportunity to talk about w

This story will never get old. I love this story so much!! When I first began reading it, it reminded me of Cinderella, but of course I was no longer reminded when the beast was introduced. The message of this story is clearly said that you should be caring and kind to all and it will show on the outside. Another possible message is to look beyond the outer appearance of others and look at the personalities in others. This is such a grea

"Beauty and the Beast" is a classic fairy tale that most children are aware of and love. When an arrogant prince is turned into a beast by a witch, his only hope for the curse to be lifted is for someone to fall in love with his true beauty. It is only when he meets Belle the Beauty that his hard heart finally begins to soften, and she is able to look past his exterior in order to see what truly lies beneath. Children of all ages will love this timeless story because of its everlasting principle ...more
