Danielle The Book Huntress (Back to the Books)
I loved this book, from page one. Brett is such a sweetheart. He is a tough, formidable Marine, but he's also a caring, warm, emotionally vulnerable man. My heart ached for him because of the way his wife treated him. It seems as though there was little of value to his marriage, but he did keep trying to be a good husband. I can't imagine how hard it was for him to go out on the frontline and have an indifferent, judgmental, unloving wife at home. Never feeling good enough for her or that he had ...more

Feb 2013 reread- I still love this book. The characters, the plot. I think there may have been changes made to the book. The part where Brett gets emotional because it had been so long since someone had wanted his touch not just endured it is gone in the kindle edition. I loaned mine out, so it was a redownload. I'm sad that Ms. Nelson took it out.
It seemed shorter as well.

A sweet contemporary romance about a Marine soldier whose awful awful wife abandons him and his little boy, forcing him to hire a nanny to help out. He ends up meeting Courtney, a very loving, happy free spirit who basically shows Brett and Cameron (his little boy) what has been missing from their lives. The things that poor Brett had to endure, during and after his marriage ended, were soooo sad and heart wrenching, ugghhh...i felt sooo bad for him. :( Brett and Courtney's relationship/romance ...more

Okay I love everything about this story. I can't believe I waited so long before I read it. But I guess I'm glad I did. I needed this type of book right now.

Straight forward & honest love here. No games. Real issues. Colorful layered characters with LOTS of heart. And an interesting & gripping plot.

I lost count of how many times I teared up reading this book. Or how many times I gasped out loud due to some shocking reveals. I don't want to ruin anything, just read it. Please. You will b

This was a book that surprised me on a lot of levels.

Level One:
Brett; our hero. Usually when an author writes about a man in the military they choose a SEAL or something along those lines. If the military hero is not high up on the chain of command then he's working his way up the ladder. This was not so with Brett. Brett's a grunt and he's happy where he is. This was so refreshing because it's not often that you get a character who's okay with not having tons of money or a grand title. Latrivia

Description: Staff Sergeant Brett Black suddenly finds himself widowed, with no one to look after his little boy. Enter Courtney Lawless, a wild-child, surfing librarian and the Lieutenant Colonel’s daughter. She’s recently been laid off from her job and agrees to become Brett’s live-in nanny. Passion and drama alike ensues.

The Good: This story is a super-hot and sexy page turner. It also offers rather fresh situations as far as IR is concerned. I was just as compelled by the story as the relati

I can freely admit reading this novel wasn't exactly planned on my part last night. I actually was clearing out my Carousel on my Kindle Fire when I realized I bought it ages ago and still hadn't read it. I started it and let's just say I woke up at 2:30 am this morning to continue reading and didn't finish it till this afternoon but all I can say is whoa!

Ms. Nelson has a way with characterization which kept me reading well past when I thought I would become bored and the storyline, though it se

Not much to say on this one. Too many things were just beyond realistic for me to hunker down and enjoy this. I kept thinking about "facts". Also, the dialogue employed by a little 4 year old -- another "not real" moment for me. Not my cuppa!

Love the reviews and the blurb for this one. And, especially that a portion of the sale of this book will be donated to I bought the book and look forward to reading this

This was actually a pretty good read. I keep thinking about this book and its story line. It came across as quite realistic, as if this could have really happened. There is quite a bit of emotions involved by the reader as well. Not just be a fantasy a story.
I am sure others will enjoy this story too.
I loved this book! Exceptional Interracial love story. Believable characters, with a touch Hawt (!!!) love... Highly recommend this book, love the author ;)

Touched my heart- BRAB Online Book Club

This story touched my heart in so many ways. Brett Black was miserably in his marriage to Amy. When she abandoned him and Cameron to go to her lover, he was devastated. A s luck would have it,he met Courtney at a very vulnerable period in his life. The chemistry between them was instant.

Courtney met Brett at a time in her life when she needed someone to believe in her. Even though she came from a loving family, she could never please her father. Courtney an

I must say that I've only read one other book by this author and I was really anxious to read this one based solely on the book blurb. I must admit that when I started reading this book I didn't think I was going to like it. Not because of the author's writing but because of the characters that were initially introduced. As I continued to read I fell in love with the hero, his son and eventually the heroine. This book was extremely well written. The characters are very relatable. The conflict wa ...more

I really wanted to like this book because of the ratings. I read the author's book "The Ugly Girlfriend" a couple of days prior to this one and didn't care for it. I thought maybe that one was a fluke, but I guess not. I purchase both books at the same time on Amazon so I had it in possession so I gave it a try. I found myself rolling my eyes within the first few pages. By the time I got to middle of the book I couldn't take it anymore. Story lines were just too unbelievable and overly dramatic ...more

I recently started reading this author per a recommendation by a friend who likes the author's "Medlov Family" series. I liked 'The Grunt'. Interesting characters, steaminess and drama. I felt for Brett due to all of his issues & appreciated the writing of how Courtney brought comfort and happiness into his life as well as his son's life. And he, in turn, was the good man she needed despite being everything she thought she didn't want.

I recommend it.

On a side note, I really like the cover of

The Grunt was a great surprise. I'm not even sure how I came across this book and I have never read anything from this author so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a well written, steamy romance with characters I really liked. Courtney was perfect for Brett and the chemistry between the two was hot. While it was a quick read, the book does touch on some important topics such as interracial relationships and the sacrifices our armed forces and families make every day. I thought the endi ...more

Ms Latrivia has indulgent me and i'm pretty sure other readers or future fellow's readers with this of now i'm speechless figuratively speaking lol i can't give her enough praise. here is how I feel about the hero and the heroine, the hero was so emotionless in the beginning until he mat his heroine. I appreciate the heroine instinct will not to fall against negative response from others.

Latrivia S. Nelson is a wonderfully imaginative storyteller. Cudos to this author for her fresh storylines, wonderful characters and her ability to make the reader feel they "understand" the story's actors.

Also, the copyediting on her work improves with every issue. I eagerly look forward to reading every new piece she publishes. This self-publised author does a great job all around. -- July 2011

I re-read this book about once a year. I like it better every time I do.
