This book, The Truth about Angels, describes these heavenly messengers who execute God’s will on earth. It dispels some of the misconceptions regarding their nature and role in human affairs. Lifting the veil between the seen and the unseen world, this text sets forth the truth about angels and their involvement in events on earth. Beginning with Lucifer’s rebellion the text expounds on the existence and activities of angels as they go about the work of heaven as well as the powers of hell. Best of all, it will enable the reader to appreciate the mission, fellowship and ministry of angels. Multitudes believe that angels are spirits of the dead who are the “ministering spirits” sent to help mankind in peril; however, this book expounds the truth about angels, both good and evil.
In brief, Ellen Gould Harmon White was a woman of remarkable spiritual gifts who lived most of her life during the nineteenth century (1827-1915), yet through her writings she is still making a revolutionary impact on millions of people around the world. During her lifetime she wrote more than 5,000 periodical articles and 40 books; but today, including compilations from her 50,000 pages of manuscript, more than 100 titles are available in English. She is the most translated woman writer in the entire history of literature, and the most translated American author of either gender. Her writings cover a broad range of subjects, including religion, education, social relationships, evangelism, prophecy, publishing, nutrition, and management. Her life-changing masterpiece on successful Christian living, Steps to Christ, has been published in more than 140 languages. Seventh-day Adventists believe that Mrs. White was more than a gifted writer; they believe she was appointed by God as a special messenger to draw the world's attention to the Holy Scriptures and help prepare people for Christ's second advent. From the time she was 17 years old until she died 70 years later, God gave her approximately 2,000 visions and dreams. The visions varied in length from less than a minute to nearly four hours. The knowledge and counsel received through these revelations she wrote out to be shared with others. Thus her special writings are accepted by Seventh-day Adventists as inspired, and their exceptional quality is recognized even by casual readers. As stated in Seventh-day Adventists Believe ... , “The writings of Ellen White are not a substitute for Scripture. They cannot be placed on the same level. The Holy Scriptures stand alone, the unique standard by which her and all other writings must be judged and to which they must be subject” (Seventh-day Adventists Believe ... , Ministerial Association, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Washington D.C., 1988, p. 227). Yet, as Ellen White herself noted, “The fact that God has revealed His will to men through His Word, has not rendered needless the continued presence and guiding of the Holy Spirit. On the contrary, the Spirit was promised by our Saviour to open the Word to His servants, to illuminate and apply its teachings” (The Great Controversy, p. vii). The following is a more detailed account of the life and work of this remarkable woman who, meeting all the tests of a true prophet as set forth in the Holy Scriptures, helped found the Seventh-day Adventist church.
wow.... it really opened my eyes to details i'd never heard of in regards to the Fall and why God permitted Satan to live instead of destroying him....the answer to "if there is a God, why is there evil in this world?", is made a bit clearer. And brought to life historical events i really enjoyed it :) i actually finished an E.G. White book in two days! haha
If you're looking for material solely focused on angel interactions in the Bible then this is the book for you. This includes both sets of angels, the good and the bad. It's amazing to realize God has blessed us with some incredible teammates. I can't wait to ask my guardian angel a ton of questions.
This book is a compilation of quotes from many sources by Ellen White who Adventists believe to have "the Spirit of Prophecy". The author moves from the Old Testament accounts of angels (God's angels and the evils ones who were swept out of Heaven with Lucifer's rebellion) through the New Testiment, and into a look at accounts of angels in her own life, and in the life of the newly-formed Adventist Church. The last portions of the book deal with the actual Coming of Christ, the 1000 years of our reigning with Him in Heaven, and the role of angels in the 'Second Judgement" (again, both the evil and the Godly angels are described). This is a comprehensive look at the accounts of angels. When I finished reading it, I felt the necessity to 'get back on track' again... and that is a good thing.
I have read many spiritual books since years ....I just could not finish reading this... it contradicts many things according to the bible.. I could not find in the bible saying that Satan repented and God did not allow him to come back when I think about it it does not make sense, the primary reason Lucifer was cast out it was because his pride... of course he wanted to be like God and his arrogance would not allow him to repent.. For me a disappointment this book
Angels are real, December 14, 2013 By Richel Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: The Truth About Angels (Kindle Edition) The Author of the book was the founder of the Seventh Day Adventist. In her book, The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan she made statements against the Catholic Church. As a Catholic, who wants to know the truth about angels, I read this book, The Truth About Angels with an open mind, disregarding negative allusions about Catholicism. My goal was to learn, not to compare to find where the difference lies nor to take side and defend.
The book is easy to read because it was well-written.
This book has given me great insight on the truth about the spiritual warfare that is going on all around me. This book goes through all the stories with angels in them and more.
Being a bit skeptical myself of others' visions, there are areas of this text I need to do more biblical research on. I would have liked to have seen more biblical reference to many of the areas of these written texts instead of referencing the writings from her many books and notes. This does lead me to want to read Ellen's very early writings, of which I think will be very interesting. She leaves no doubt that she is a firm believer. in God and Christ crucified.
Well worth your time to read, and as the final events unfold, have this foundation of knowledge in your mind and heart to keep watch upon. To know you have a heavenly angel always at your side is comforting.
Take your time reading (I did a few weeks), it explains a lot and gives plenty to think about. The number of highlights and notes taken ...... too many. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone outside of pastors or old people even read her books anymore. It's a shame because they're good, albeit harsh reality checks for the average person but necessary ones though. This is one I'm sure I'll read again for my own pleasure.
This book is so wonderful!! It reveals how much Jesus loves us, how his angels care and work for us!! I highly recommend this book to anyone desiring to see how angels move among us while staying true to the Bible.
This one made me cry as well (I`m so emotional, lol). I recall reading it for like 5 minutes everyday. It`s basically about the angels surrounding us and Jesus. I love knowing that I have a guardian angel. It`s a lovely book.
A must-read book. It’s really interesting and one can learn a lot of things about the bible and angels, both holy and fallen. Also, this book brings knowledge about God’s salvation plan.
Mi-a plăcut mult cartea !am realizat mai bine prezenta îngerilor în anumite situații din Biblie și am rămas uimita de luptele care se duceau între forțele raului și ingeri!
