A more fitting title for this book would have been "Was ist gute Kunst aus der Sicht weisser, alter, Deutscher Männer?"
Based on who was selected to be interviewed regarding what constitutes good art, about a good 80-90% of this book reflects the point of view of white, old German men.
On top of that German artists are represented disproportionately in the book, as if art from other places on the planet is not worth mentioning.
According to their own website "Hatje Cantz is an international publisher of illustrated books on art, ...". Well, I wish. I wish they were international.
Not to mention other dimensions.
Such important questions should not be left to be answered solely by white, old, German men.
