This is a beautifully heartfelt book, a story of love, loss, and faith. The backdrop - the scourge of the AIDS epidemic in San Francisco - is devastating, but the resilience of the patients, the care workers, and the community is even stronger.

Marthe and Kell are so real, so earthy, so complicated, and you root for them and empathize with them. The supporting cast is also fantastic, and I'm not lying when I say I dreamed about the Souzas. They get into your head.
