Lady Sessily is a dark fae, an assassin, and she intends to retire and take up some other occupation so she can lead a normal life. Get a boyfriend. Visit the human world to hassle humans like many of her kind do. Attend fae kingdom parties, not as the mystery woman who is scoping out her next intended victim, but just to have fun. Until tall, dark, handsome, and deadly interrupts her plans.
She is on a mission to assassinate a fae lord who is the most evil kind of fae. But when she is thwarted, not once but twice by another fae lord, she is ready to strangle him. And she'll do it for free.
The crown prince of the cobra fae doesn't know what to think when he hires a master assassin who turns out to be a woman--not her father like he'd been led to believe. But can she eliminate one of the most powerful queens of any of the fae kingdoms without getting herself killed?
He soon rethinks his plan as he gets to know the woman he begins to think of as his angel assassin.
Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.
She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

Lady Sessily is a dark fae and an assassin following in her father's footsteps. Although trained by her father and very good at the job, Sessily cannot be a member of the guild because she's a woman so all of her kills are registered under her father's name. Sessily's newest mission is to kill a dangerous lord who marries well then kills his wives. However, Sessily is thwarted twice by another lord. Ultimately, she completes her mission which winds up impacting more people than was realized. All she wants to do now is retire and live a normal life taking care of her land and people and maybe finding someone to love.
Lord Creshion is a member of the cobra fae and has hired an assassin for a difficult job. He goes where he's told but thinks he has hired Sessily's father. Sessily tells Creshion who happens to be the difficult lord, that her father's been dead four years and that she wants nothing to do with the job but Creshion doesn't take no for an answer. Creshion and Sessily wind up having to watch each other's backs and their relationship is both humorous and serious. While Sessily does complete the mission, it is not in the expected way.
I loved this book and am really enjoying the series. The book's well-written and a wonderful read. I highly recommend it. Terry Spear is an excellent author and does Young Adult proud.
She is deadly all right. I love Terry Spear's shapechanger books, but was not as sure if I would like these. Now, I am 2 stories in and loving it! Sessily is a fantastic heroine, an assassin with a code of honor. Creshion is not at all what he appears to be at first! Watching the two of them together was quite fun! There is action, adventure, a fancy ball with snotty ladies, a fun storyline with some serious bits. In the end we got to see the main characters from book 1 meet up with these 2 in a humorous way. Read this is you enjoy fun fairy stories with some action, but read book 1 first and enjoy!
My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!! ***Received a code from the author to listen to and review the audio version of the book
The cover is not my favorite, and it really doesn’t matter because I don’t even have to see the cover just that it is written by Terry Spear :)
First, I loved that I didn't have to get used to another narrator for this book. It is the same narrator from book 1. My son and I listened to this to and from school for a week. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but my son was a little disappointed that it wasn't a continuation of book 1. He wanted more about Alicia and Deveron :) This book was about Lady Sessily and Lord Fairhaven, and it definitely had plenty of action to keep my son’s and my attention throughout.
He enjoyed it and says I have to get more of this series to listen to. I'm turning my son into a Terry Spear fan though I think he will probably only ever listen to the YA books because I doubt romance will ever be his thing like it is mine.
I really love the audiobooks because my son loves reading, but really struggles with it due to dyslexia. Audiobooks give him a chance to enjoy the story without the stress of reading. Though I'm getting him help with this, so hopefully he will enjoy both in a year or two :)
Terry Spear is a great writer, and you can't go wrong listening or reading one of her books. Off to listen to more of her books :)
I really want to add this series to my classroom library, but it may be a while before I can afford to do so.
I recommend this series to all the existing Terry Spear fans because most probably don’t know that she has a YA series. I think anyone who is into books about the Fae will love this series.
***This review is for the audible version of The Deadly Fae***
I loved it! This is the 2nd book I've enjoyed from Terry's World of Fae series and it's just as magical a tale as the 1st one! As with the 1st story, this tale would also be perfect for tweens and teens . BUT... it's not just for the young. I really enjoyed it, too, and I'm in my 60s.
The plot was an enchanting and original treasure. Lady Sessily, an ultra-talented dark fae hunter assassin, is on an assignment when she encounters an obstacle to her plan. That obstacle is a tall, dark and handsome cobra fae who believes that he is gallantly protecting a young boy when he interferes with Lady Sessily's mark. Lady Sessily has to devise a new plan and the same cobra fae is an obstacle again! Then their path cross yet a third time! She can't seem to stay off his radar! By this time, she doesn't know whether she wants to kiss him, slap him or kill him!
The world of fae and the characters are incredible! Terry's imagination is beyond awesome! There's evil queens, sorcerers, kidnappings, non-stop adventure, escapades in the hay and more!
If you listen to the audible version as I did, the narrator is very good. Her voice was clear and didn't distract me from the story. I like to listen to audibles while exercising. I can immerse myself so deeply in Terry's books, that I look forward to each session and I don't even feel the pain.
Bottomline: This book is a perfect blend of YA romance, fantasy and unending excitement! It left me amazed, dazed and with a warm fuzzy feeling! Terry's World of Fae ROCKS!
The Deadly Fae (The World of Fae series) by Terry Spear ISBN-10: 1468096958 ISBN-13: 978-1468096958
Lady Sessily, a dark fae and an assassin plans on taking one last assignment before retiring. She wants a normal life where she can be herself and not hide in the shadows, waiting to take out her next victim. But on her last mission to assassinate an evil fae lord, a bossy cobra fae lord keeps getting in her way. She’s not sure if she wants to smack him or kill him.
The crowned cobra fae, lord Creshion hires a master assassin, who he believes is Sessily’s father. When he finds out he’s actually hired Sessily, he doesn’t know what to think. How could this sweet looking fae eliminate a powerful Queen?
This YA fantasy tale takes you into Ms. Spear’s detailed fae realm where magic, danger and romance awaits you at every turn. I was hooked from the very first page. I loved Sessily and Creshion’s interaction. At times their banter made me chuckle.
I wasn’t sure where this story would go. A Fae assassin for hire didn’t strike me as YA material, but Ms. Spear knows how to spin a tale for all ages. This fairytale promises that very evil will get what they deserve and the hero and heroine of the story will find their happily-ever-after… at least for now.

I listened to this book on Audible. Lady Sessily just wants to retire from her life as a secret assassin. But the uber sexy Prince Creshion insists she complete one more assassination. The target is the evil Cobra Queen. I really enjoyed this story. What I liked most… I absolutely loved Sessily’s choice of weapons to kill. I thought they were unique and ladylike. I liked how she used her wit and stayed a lady throughout the story. What I didn’t like? Nothing. This is a great story. I recommend this story if you like fae and a smart independent heroine.
Terry Spear has a way of enrapturing you into her books. This book was no exception. Extremely enjoyable YA read. My only diappointment was that I had hoped that Alicia and Deveron would have more of an active roll in this book but it was not the case. But that was purely because I didn't want the first book in this series to end and now I hope that Sessilly and Creshion (cool name wonder where she got it) will continue in the next book as well.
Wow I am happy I stumbled across this author this is the 2nd book I have read of his work, and the 2nd book of this series... I recalled wanted to know more about the characters from the last book but they only came in at the end.. but I was pleased to learn about the new characters in this book and about the fae way.and the plans they had to make to get rid of that horrible queen.... I do love a happy ending when everything just goes right for a person or fae.... Kay xx

The story was ok, but the writing style got on my last nerve. The story lacked a clear climax; I never felt any anxiety for the characters. Plus, if the prince referred to Sessely as an "angel assassin" one more time I was going to scream.
Oh this one is so much better than the first in this series! I love this book. The characters are so great and the story is fun and fast with never a dull moment. Thanks again Terry for another wonderful read.
