Sweet-natured and satisfying romance fit for all-purpose cockle-warming and recreational squeeplosion.

Adorable, even with slight inaccuracies regarding the deflowering of an ambitious and impatient youth; most especially with the taste of teenaged sem—aaaaaand that's about where I'm gonna end this review, here in the great State of NY, where the age of consent remains 17.

3.5 stars!

Cute and sweet short read light on drama with no fuss no muss straight to the point.

Jonah, falls for his brother's older best friend Laurie, and yes! I know I've read this story line before. But this one was a bit different for me since Laurie, reacted different when he got propositioned by Johan. I really liked that he respect his friendship with his best friend and he did everything right. Laurie/Johan were so adorable and had a hot chemistry they faced some misunderstandings but thanks to good communication they were able to move on. Looking forward to reading book two and seeing how these two are getting along.

**5 Wanting & Keeping Stars**

LOVED this adorable and heartfelt read!! Its as sweet as sugar and as cute as a button...if buttons equal sexy innocent virgins and kindhearted, irresistible hunks! Wanting is simply... lovable.

"I want you," Laurie said, and those three words were even hotter than that look. "Don't ever doubt it." And then Laurie kissed him.

Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you wanna do
I heard that you like the bad boys
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby, now you do...

This book was exactly what I needed. It is sweet, very romantic, and just a lovely read. I have a soft spot for first loves and Piper Vaughn did this concept justice. The story had a very nice almost soothing quality to it. It was a perfect, angst-free, pick-me-up kind of read.

I have officially emerged myself in short-reads for the foreseeable future. My attention span in January doesn’t seem to allow much more. But I'm not complaining, I'm fitting in more of the little suckers than I have in my entire reading history. Let January be the month of Short-Reads! LOL

Now about the story. What was there not to like? Only one thing I can think of complaining about. I could have easily read more about this. That is a compliment to the author.

I so adored Jonah and his childhood idolization and crush on his big brother's best friend Laurie. The plan he devised to catch the older boy's attention. Jonah just wants Laurie to see him as more than the "little-brother" and it's so sweet.

Laurie was adorable as well. The way he treated Jonah in being his "mentor" in this matter was tender and caring. To be expected as he has feelings for the youngster as well.

I really enjoyed it. I would read more about them as they grow up and I'm sure it will be awesome. ;-)

4 stars!

I want you to take my virginity!

Well, that first sentence definitely got me hooked! A break-up with his boyfriend offers Jonah a chance to finally approach his long-time crush Laurie, who also happens to be his brother’s best friend. Getting him to teach him everything about sex is however more difficult than expected as Laurie isn’t about to risk his friendship with Jonah’s brother.

Wanting is a very sweet, hot and romantic short story with a very moderate amount of drama and I definitely loved the chemistry between Jonah and Laurie. I’m looking forward to book two about these intriguing main characters and I am sure that their relationship is having a lot of potential. Considering that Wanting has been published in 2011, I am however not sure if there will really be a sequel. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

One of my favorite contributions to the Don’t Read in the Closet event and the story is fitting the prompt picture perfectly!

I love the stories that Piper Vaughn tells. They are always exactly what I need when I need them. That warm tingly feeling wraps around me and I am in my happy place. It's a wonderful place to be, you have to trust me.

This was adorable! Goodness. Sweet young Jonah asking his lifetime crush to take his virginity? The balls it took to put himself out there like that! Sure, he made up a story but he was desperate and it's Laurie after all. I loved the POV switch between the boys, they are both so sweet. This made me gooey, I love goo. I smiled through the whole story, well when I wasn't blushing with some seriously hot make out sessions that is. Damn. Who knew making out and deflowering your boyfriend could be like that? I liked those scenes, maybe a bit too much? Nah, they were pretty hot! Oh and that epilogue...*swoon* a great way to end the story.

Updated/changed review because the original file I read was out of order and reading the correct order my feelings changed. To see what changed you can see the comments under this review but there are spoilers in the comments.

The writing was great and engaging and I didn't want to stop reading. The story is very enjoyable. I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters even if the relationship still developed nicely.

One of the best things about GoodReads is the exposure you get to different types of books. (The other great thing is meeting tons of really great people, which also ties in to this review.)

I had never really considered picking up a GLBT romance. No reason, really, other than I'm a heterosexual female and the thought of reading a romance between two men had simply never occurred to me.

Until I joined GoodReads, that is, and befriended a lady named Harper. In the midst of our discussions about the Black Dagger Brotherhood and the odd historical romance Harper became a published author, and I got the opportunity to read one of her stories in its last draft. I was completely blown away by her talent.

When Wanting came out I downloaded it immediately, and finally took the time to read it.

Piper's voice is incredibly mature (it seems to me) and her writing makes me think that she would be a success at any genre she chooses to work in.

I was immediately drawn into the story. The writing had me right there, feeling all of Jonah's nervousness and infatuation. Piper nailed late adolescence - I don't care if you're male, female, green or space alien - the feelings of uncertainty, butterflies in the stomach, sweaty hands and feeling like you're going to upchuck....that happens to everybody.

The romance was well-handled and the love scenes were really sexy (again, something that until GR hadn't even been on my radar). It struck me that they were handled very sensitively, exactly as they should have been given the story.

I also think this story would be a good starting point for someone trying m/m romance -- it's sweet, it's tender and romantic with no rough sex whatsoever.

4 stars, I enjoyed the story, loved the writing and can't wait to try more of Piper's work.

Swe-et!! Four fluffy stars for making me feel like a kid allowed to eat candy floss without having to beg first.

I went all "awwwww, boys in love" and "ohhhhh, hot boyzzzz" and "awwwwww, happy happy boys" while reading this.

Zero angst (ok, there's like 0.1% angst in there), 100% sweetness without being too syruppy.

I should create a shelf called "m/m fairy tales" for stories like this one! *le sigh*

***3.75 Stars***

This was a sweet, bite sized morsel of an older brother's best friend story.

Jonah and Laurie were adorable together. Even though this is a short book (less than 100 pages), it feels like a well rounded story. I would have loved a few more scenes of Laurie and Jonah together after their first make-out session instead of the one week recap we get so I could feel the emotions even more showing how close they were getting as they inched their way to the main event...but other than that...I'm one happy camper.

That hide and go seek scene though....♥ ♥

Looking forward to the other short stories with these two guys.

Perfect balance of sweet & sexy.

Jonah has a crush on his brother's best friend Laurie (<-nickname...thank goodness...) and tries to manipulate a way to get him to fall for him. He creates a fake boyfriend, who in turn cheats on him and breaks up with him. So, he asks Laurie if he'll be his cherry-popper so he doesn't have to go away to college a virgin.

Perfectly acceptable premise...right? :) In fact, the book has minimal angst and the relationship between Jonah and Laurie grows into something really tender and special.

This book is almost identical to Piper Vaughn's Asylum, to be honest. But, I'm ok with that. I enjoyed them both.

Nice short read...great in-betweener if you've just read something that was heavy and destroyed you...

This is a beautiful story!! Love it ... though I have to admit, that somehow I mixed up the names all the time. In my mind, Laurie is the virgin and Jonah is the older one (though it is supposed to be the other way around). I don't know why, maybe because it's the sense of their name in my head. But this is so, so wonderful and sweet and totally fluff-worthy :). Love the nice epilogue

Offered for FREE from the M/M Romance Group, Hot Summer Days event.

I'm not sure which adjective to use to describe this story; sweet, adorable, lovely, wonderful, fun, enjoyable, so effen cute! So obviously I liked it. Other short-story writers need to take a page out of Piper Vaughn's book. When we as reviewers say, "well the character development wasn't great but it was just a short story so..." no more excuses. In 66 pages we were introduced to a twenty year friendship that felt easy and real, a brotherly love that was genuine, and a budding new relationship that had me both smiling and tearing up. After the first 20 pages I remember thinking, "dammit, I love these guy and I'm gonna get sucked in and then it's going to end abruptly with a HFN right when stuff is getting good!" But no, Piper manged to cram a full length book into 66 pages without it feeling crammed! Loved it. (As a side note: I'm generally a fan of Epilogues, and this one was cute, but I would have preferred a scene involving Marc to get a better idea of their lives.)

OMG! That was awesome! So sweet and cute and... WOW! I just love friends-to-lovers stories.

Jonah is in love with Laurie his brothers best friend since forever. But how to get his attention?

The characters felt real and it was such a tender fluffy read, I'll have to seek out some more of Piper Vaughn's books!

Holy fuck that was so bloody adorable. I loved this book. A definite curl-up-in-a-chair-by-the-window-with-pouring-rain-pounding-outside-and-some-classical-music-playing kind of book. Not only was it adorable, it was sexy as hell with majorly loveable characters and cute/funny scenes.

A fabulous read.

Definitely recommended for those who enjoy this genre, and for those who want taste this genre and are, in a sense, Gaymance virgins. Not at all unlike our lovely MC . . .

Sweet, hot shorter story.

I remember this story. I am unsure how long ago I read it but apparently long enough that Amazon didn't give me the warning that I had already bought it. It is still a satisfying little read. Sweet.

Aww! *big dramatic sappy sigh* I loved this! Jonah and Laurie were absolutely adorable together! It wasn't exactly what I was expecting from the blurb, but that's ok, I enjoy a nice surprise every now and again!

Jonah has been in love with Laurie since, well, practically puberty, but as far as he knows Laurie sees him as nothing more than his best friend's younger brother. Thus, he devises a plan, of sorts, to get Laurie to really see him. His not-so-well-thought-out plan works (which is lucky for him, mine never do!) and what starts out as a rather manipulated tangle in the sheets, ends as a heart warming, gave-me-those-warm-fuzzies love story.

I can't wait to read more from this author!

I don't really know what people see in this short story. The plot was built upon a lie, more or less everything starts with a lie. And that's really irritating start toward first sex experience if we know that Jonah has been in love with Laurie for many years. The plotted story was shit!!
