In this eighth book of the series, former CIA assassin Donovan Creed finds himself at odds with mob-connected Tony Spumoni and practically everyone else he knows, including his boss Darwin, lover Gwen, daughter Kimberly, protégé Callie, co-worker Lou, physician Doc Howard, assorted board members, terrorists, and even a zoo full of angry monkeys!Preliminary “I know this makes me appear insane, but all week I’ve burst into laughter at the most inappropriate times because of this book!” “I wanted to stop turning pages, but couldn’t!” “Vintage lightning-fast dialogue, crazy situations, insane twists and turns, and general craziness!”

Ok, I know, the guy is totally nuts! I'm talking about the protaganist, Donavan Creed, but I also think the author is nuts! What a series of books! This story is as insane as all the others but its so amazingly funny that you'll cheer each dead body - and there is a bunch of them. How the author can think up these story lines and keep everything together is beyond me. I just love each book and can't wait for the next one to come out. The Love You Crave refers to someone in Creed's family and its a stunner of a story line. You'll hate having to turn a page because you'll know that you're that much closer to the ending - something you'll not want to happen!
Continuing with my pursuit of the lone Hero (see reviews for Joe Pike novels, John Rain novels, and Jack Reacher novels) Donovan Creed is probably the most unique character I came across.
I'd never heard of John Locke until I received my Kindle DX in the mail. Locke made his fame and fortune self-publishing his books in the Kindle world. For the Kindle, his books are ridiculously inexpensive (around $0.99 to $1.99). I was surprised at what I read and hooked from the start. Unlike my other series books, however, there is a difference in the books in terms of ratings...so I have not given them the standard 4 or 5 star ratings across the entire series.
First of all, the books are short but packing a powerful punch, a mixture of excellent humor (left me laughing at the insanity of what I was reading) and the grim reality of a hero who kills people. Lethal people introduces us to Creed, the business he is in, his side-kicks and his insane relationship within his own world and certainly the world most of us live in (let's just say Creed is not fit to live a normal life and does not understand it). Get ready for a roller coaster ride and, above all...enjoy! You will find that towards the end of each book you will be filled with disappointment that the ride is over...and almost certainly you will hunt down the next Donovan Creed thriller.
John Locke is back with his insane and fairly disgusting Donovan Creed series. I felt the last book, Vegas Moon, was fairly weak and went nowhere. This installment Locke is back on promising ground. The book throws in a few twists here and there and actually points the series in a new and surprising direction. I enjoyed this book, it’s a quick read and fun, which is the point with Creed books. A few complaints: these books are very short, which is fine, because they are cheap. My complaint however, is Locke spends quite a bit of time going over past of events of what happened in the last book. At this point in the series, we don’t need a reminder for every portion of the story.
More classic John Locke, who has to be one of the most imaginative, fast-paced writers who has taken fingers to keyboards. Finished in two days while still getting other work done. Now on the last Donovan Creed series, Vegas Moon, which is not actually the last, I just got them out of order, but it really doesn't matter. This independent author has sold more than 1.2 million ebooks in one year without the assistance of the big six publishers. He is just nuts and proves it every time he writes a book, which ought to qualify him to be holding public office.
Well, that was a few hours of my life I'll never get back.
I don't understand what all the hoopla is about. I guess this author is just not my cup of tea. If you're going to throw in murdering someone or screwing around on your wife for shock value, at least make it believable.
Lots of juvenile humor - kind of like when people burp or fart and think it's incredibly hilarious. I just don't get it.
As usual, John Locke delivers! Another witty, wacky and, at times, hysterically funny, Donovan Creed novel. You can count on Locke to take you as far away from real life as you want to go while still making events and characters plausable and fun. This is a light, breezy read for those of us who just want a break from seriousness and everyday events. Kudos for John Locke!!!
Pretty entertaining if you can get past the sophomoric humor and gross-out violence. I now understand the broad appeal of this writer and his Donovan Creed character. It's just not my cup of tea. Worthwhile for a weekend or long afternoon read.
John Locke does it again with, The Love You Crave. With his Donovan Creed character, you never no what to expect, but you do know what to expect from John Locke's writing: a fast pace and an entertaining read.
Vintage Creed, crazy plots, twists and turns a plenty and generally total manic... Creed is at odds with everyone but still manages to come out on top I think, I could not stop laughing at this one every page is laugh out loud.
Best one in a while. Really juicy stuff going on with Sam, Darwin, and Creed's daughter. It ended seemingly in the middle of things, without knowing how much his daughter will reveal. Good stuff. SOOO fast. When's the next one come out?
Don't know how John Locke does it, but somehow each book in the Creed series just gets better and better. Leaves you CRAVING more! :) The characters and storyline are even more fun, more outrageous and are just one wild ride that makes it impossible to put this book down. Nothing not to love here!
By far the weakest of the Locke novels. Easily worth the dollar it cost as a light summer read but still not nearly as good as the rest of the Creed series.
My first John Locke thriller starring Donovan Creed! Another amazingly handsome, tough, intelligent crime solver that makes fun books like this rock!!!!
