This book is a biography about the Duchess of Cambridge and is for children in the age group of P. This book did not win any awards. This book is a short biography about the life of Kate Middleton, the woman who married Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. This book had real life pictures, which will capture children's attention because children like to look at pictures. The language wasn't too difficult to understand and it gave enough information for a child to understand the basics of Kate Middleton. Also something I find helpful was that throughout the book the author highlighted words that she thought may be difficult for children to understand, and at the back of the book had a glossary with the a simple definition of what each word meant. Young girls will especially like this book because its about a real life princess who lives in our time period. It talks a little bit about what she does so it can give the readers what a Duchess does.

Personal Reaction:
I thought this was a simply biography book. However, I personally really enjoyed it, because I am interested in the royal family. I learned some facts about Kate Middleton, which I didn’t know. I think the Tieck did a good job making the biography look appealing to children, because it had stars and bright color throughout the book.
Purpose:
This would be a good independent reading book for a 1st or 2nd grader. The book gave a surface level overview of Kate’s life, but I think a student who interested in princesses would enjoy this book. I think a student could use this book to compare and contrast the similarities and differences of a real life princess to a fictional one. The biography can also be tied to curriculum by talking about a monarchy system of government, and how they have kings and queens compared to the United States.
