Revenge may be a dish best served cold, but these three tales are hot, hot, hot!
Private Investigations: Donna is the kind of person who never thinks twice when it comes to helping a friend in need. So when her co-worker suspects her boyfriend of cheating, Donna is right there in the stakeout car next to her. Little does she know that their brief foray in private investigation will lead to her own investigating of a sexy PI's privates.
Between Love and Hate: Jade thought she'd found the one, until she finds proof her boyfriend has been secretly meeting someone else. What's a girl to do? Get back at him, of course. However, sometimes things aren't always as they seem.
Saving Grace: As Valentine's Day approaches, Grace realizes all of her friends have found the loves of their lives while she is still alone and lonely. But when a secret admirer sweeps her off her feet, she discovers that Mr. Right may really be oh-so-wrong. With help from an unexpected ally, can she get free of him before she finds herself all tied up?

It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
This book includes the stories of three friends, Jade, Donna and Grace, all who are looking for love. When Jade thinks her boyfriend is cheating on her, she enlists the help of her friends to find out the truth. Sam Smith, ex-cop and now PI, discovers the ladies trying to spy on Daniel and this pleasantly surprised when Donna contacts him for some advice. He takes the opportunity to get to know her, but things don't progress quite as planned. Meanwhile, Jade continues to try to figure out what's going on with Daniel. And Grace bemoans that everyone else has a boyfriend but her. Grace was the most annoying character, although her adventures were the most entertaining as she finally finds love.
The women in this book are TSTL. The first two stories turn on the women jumping to the conclusion that they are being cheated on and instead of TALKING TO THE MAN they break up with them, leaving misery in everyone's path. In the third story, the heroine states right in the beginning that she just wants someone who will be OBLIGATED to spend time with her and buy her stuff. Really?
The only reason to read this is the men. They're all nice, especially Jordan in the third story who saved me because by the time I got to him I was seriously hating this book. Thankfully, he was enjoyable.
Private Investigations~All Donna is trying to do is be a good friend and find out if her friends boyfriend is cheating on her....Sam is starting his new business and is a little concerned with what he'll be doing for a living now....the way these two meet should say something about how their possible relationship could go....onto the next
Between Love and Hate~Jade cannot believe her boyfriend that she loves is cheating on her, she just needs to find more proof...Daniel is definitely keeping a secret, and if his plan works he'll have everything he's dreamed of....onto the next
Saving Grace~Grace doesn't understand why she's not in a happy relationship like the rest of her friends, then she discovers that she has a secret admirer....Jordan has had it bad for Grace for a while, but he's been to shy to say anything until now...can these two try to make a go of it or will someone else come in and try to steal all Jordan's hard work....really enjoyed these stories...onto the next
This was a quick fast read with three short stories that were linked to each other. Grace's story was by far the best, and the one that most easily could have been a stand alone story, since it didn't really have a direct link to the other two stories, just had the characters from the first two stories in it. Most of Ms. Johnson's works seems to be short stories, and that is really my only complaint with her writing, that I wish her books were longer!
This book was fun but didn't wow me. There was a lot of female bonding, which I can appreciate, but the romance and sexual tension that I love seemed to fade into the background in favor of estrogen. Just when I was starting to know and like Sam, Daniel and Jordan, the story would end and I'd be subjected to "sex in the city" style girl chat. While ok in moderation, I've been around enough girltalk to last me a lifetime.
Revenge is a dish best served cold. Loved all the girlfriends and their wacky ways. These reads were great. Live, laugh and love totally fits. Cat is an amazing author.
