Fascinating read, written in an easy to follow style that an interested bystander can follow. Separates fact from fiction and a small insight into public health policy.

I picked this up as a remaindered book donated to a local little library that also happened to contain a Geocache. It's been languishing in the bottom of my go-bag against a rainy travel day with no electronic access.

A really fascinating book. Looking forward to read the author's latest book "Infectious". I really learned a lot, very many useful information which mad me think and analyse my life, my youth, my family, the people I know and I knew... Of course the book has also a special meaning for Australians, Frank Bowden is an Australian doctor, lot of his experience is from Australia but he has also a very global attitude to viruses and bacteria. The book is really well written, not boring at all. I recom ...more
Easy to read look at 15 of the more common infections encountered in Australia today. The author has spent a large part of his working life dealing with HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, and this shows in his choice of the diseases examined in the book. Although interesting I would have preferred a wider range of topics. Helpful for those in the field. Not sure how relevant or interesting it would be for non medical readers.

A relevant, informative and well written book. Scientific information is supported by personal stories that assist the reader to better understand the particular disease and disease process. I would encourage individuals who are uncertain of the merits of vaccinations to read this book.
