Pig giggles and Rabbit Rhymes by Mike Down is a book of animal riddles. It is a fun book because if you get part of the answer you can guess the other by rhyming. Kids love this and adults gaffaw over the rhyming answer. Once the child gets the way to figure out the answer it is fun to see how fast their minds work. I love these kinds of riddles. Thank you Mike Downs. Additionally, the illustrations by David Sheldon are wacky!

Mommy's review from 9/10/11 -

Julia went from 5 stars to 4 stars to 3 stars when I asked her about this. ~The beginnings of a little me. :)~
This is fairly simple but it's not what I expected and we ended up laughing pretty hard while reading this in bed one night. The thing I liked the very best is that these riddles are so simple kids can actually remember them and tell someone else later. Julia has retold a number of them to my parents already and there's such a look of pride when she does because telling a joke and getting it right isn't always so easy.
These are the type of riddles in the book:

~What did the porcupine use to cook his food? a quill grill~

~What do you call a sore spot on a rattler? a snake ache~

Fairly easy for a young child to guess or at least partially guess and like I said above, easy to remember.
I'd recommend for some laughs, especially for any parent with a young kid who liked and tries to tell riddles and jokes.

2.5 stars rounded up, because the target audience will like it much better than I did.

I loved making up Hinky-Pinkies with my mom when I was a kid; it was one of our favorite car games. This book does the work for you, and doesn't adhere to the matching syllable count, but it's still a decent introduction to the form.

This is an short and entertaining book of rhyming riddles that are silly, but help to challenge a child's knowledge of rhyme. The illustrations are funny and the narrative is short, but elicits a lot of punny groans. We enjoyed reading this book together.

This is a very funny and creative book for children. It has riddles that are simple enough for kids to understand and keep them interested. Not only do the riddles all deal with animals, it teaches them about animals and what they do. Any young kid would get a laugh out of this book.
