What a wonderful story of a Halloween party. Seems like today everything is so over the too, this story covered a time of such simplicity. The games, the treats, and even the prizes were so sweet. Enjoyed this feel good story very much.
Dated book (it was published in the early 20th century) about a boy celebrating his birthday and Halloween on the same day. He invites his chums (actual word used) to his house for a party. The proper language the boys use is quite amusing. They play fortune telling games, and look for dimes in the birthday cake. Short read--only 43 pgs.
As a Halloween aficionado, I set out to read just about every easily available book on the subject, including oddities like a young boys' chapter book found on Project Gutenberg. Though decidedly juvenile (as it should be, it's a young boys' chapter book), there's a certain charm in the good-natured depiction of an old-time Halloween party.
