The story shows different types of environments and which animals whould live there. The story is also about how friends are always there together no matter what. This story can be used to teach children about friendship, seasons, weather, geography, and snow.

The backyardigans use their imaginations to meet the "ice lady", discover the secret of snow, and save the ice lady. Teachers could use this in winter, and discuss the real way snow is formed. It also discusses friendship and to have fun every once in a while.
