Es un recorrido bastante acertado sobre las distintas perspectivas del arte y de la comunicación actual.
Es necesario, a mi parecer, tener un conocimiento previo bastante preciso sobre teorías y ensayos de autores como Walter Benjamin, Martin Heidegger, Friedrich Nietzsche, como así también obras de artistas como Kazimir Malevich (hay un capítulo específico donde compara el devenir del arte haciendo hincapié en un antes y un después del suprematismo) y vanguardias en general.

Lo mejor de esta compilación es la introducción y el primer texto, en los que Groys plantea ciertas condiciones de interpretación para el arte contemporáneo. En primer lugar, observa que actualmente hay más productores que consumidores. Más adelante, que la pretensión de ser artista sin otra obra que sí mismo se ha convertido en una obligación. Tiene ideas muy buenas, especialmente cuando se mete con vanguardia rusa (fan de Malevich). Sobre temas como la obra de arte vs. instalación, arte vs. diseño o el artista vs. curador se cuelga en el aspecto más técnico del asunto y no dice nada. También me pone nervioso cómo muchos de sus razonamientos arrancan desde lecturas muy ambiguas y generales sin dar ejemplos (la falta de bibliografía en estas ediciones de Caja Negra no ayuda), o la manera cuadrada de definir qué es arte y no. Sobresaliente colección de ensayos que analizan no tanto el quehacer del artista en la era de Internet y las redes sociales, sino la diferencia entre un artista y todo el resto en un momento donde la producción de contenidos y la distancia entre una obra de arte y una no obra de arte dejó de depender de elementos intrínsecos o fácilmente reconocibles. La frase de Beuys aparece en varios ensayos, y la tontería de que "todo el mundo es un artista", para Groys hoy es más distopía que utopía.
