El libro “El gran truco del abuelo” de L. Dwight Holden nos presenta una historia muy interesante y conmovedora sobre el dolor de una niña que ve a su abuelo enfermo y luego debe tener su duelo por la muerte de este.

A child’s grandad is in his last few weeks, this story follows the child’s thought processes and feelings with regards to his grandad’s illness and passing. This book takes us through a step by step of what happens, including his grandad’s change in behaviour, their memories with him, the funeral and how the family helps the child to deal with the loss.

This is a short read, for key stage 2 readers or for parents to read to key stage 1 pupils. The story is accompanied by a few simple pictures to help children better understand what is happening as it can be quite difficult for a child to follow.

I have found this book to be incredibly helpful regardless of the cause of passing, it is an easy way to aid children with dealing with grief and to let them know that you are there for them and that it is okay to be upset and talk about how they are feeling.
