Jenna's been letting life pass her by as she works on her career. But, when she needs to do some research of this kissing kind, things may get a little more heated than she expected.
Research has never been so fun.

WARNING: This 11k short has no vampires, shape shifter or scorching sex, but it might make you snort your diet Coke out your nose.

Cute, short and quick read. Too short that if you make a review you can summarize the whole story in one paragraph. And I thought this is a prequel. Surprisingly, no.

Jenna is a writer who happens to be somewhat inexperienced in the art of kissing. Since her publisher expects a new plot for her main characters, she decided to make some research. To do the research, she and her friend Lisbeth went to a bar to meet a man who can make her relive her first kiss.

Cute and sweet romance novella (40+ pages) about Jenna, a shy wallflower who writes a YA novel series. When her agent tells her it's time for her main character to kiss a boy, Jenna panics. She's been on the shelf for so long she doesn't feel like she can adequately describe a first kiss. So her friend Lisbeth--one of those gorgeous friends who makes you feel like more of a ugly duckling--drags her out for a night on the town. Mission: find a guy to kiss.

While alphabetically planning out the first bunch of books to read in 2017, I came up empty for an author whose last name begins with the letter Q. But GoodReads came to my rescue! I found that my GR friend Kathy * Bookworm Nation has some Catie Quinn books highly rated. And so I was very happy to find this short story for free on Amazon!

It’s in His Kiss (2011, QPub Books), 0.5 in the Brew Ha Ha series by Catie Quinn, is a contemporary romance set in a metropolitan college town. It’s a standal

Rarely do I get to say this: I hated every single word of this offensive 'story.' It's poison.

The heroine wants to research 'a first kiss' for a book she's writing. In the process she runs into the 'hero.' She trips, he picks her up. And no, I don't mean he helps her up, or steadies or asks if she's all right. No, he picks her fucking up and places her on a bar stool. Then he proceeds to call her 'Sunshine' like she's five. Then he takes her notebook from her, against her will, reads what's ins

You must need to read book one to be able to understand book 0.5.

When I began reading I felt like I was missing something. Like everybody was in on a joke and I was left out.

However, it became more interesting, and of course right when I really wanted more, the darn thing ended. Ben had Jenna up against a wall sweet talking her and that’s when Quinn and Quinlan (the authors) said “Oh this looks like a good place to end the story.” WHAT?! No! Keep going. Ugggh.

This is fun and very short and only escaped five stars by ending so abruptly. At a minimum, it did the job of interesting me in the series...
A sweet, funny novella. Quite predictable but perfect for a nice hour. Free on Amazon - so don't think twice and take it. ;-)

PS If you know more such kind of novellas - let me know. I would want to have a few on my shelf to read when I will need it.
Super Cute!

I loved this one just as much the second time around. Jenna is a YA author and needs to do some research. The character she is writing needs to have her first kiss, problem is it's been so long since Jenna has had a first kiss she decides she needs to do some fieldwork to refresh her memory. This was such a fun read, sure it was short, but it was packed full of fun characters and great romance. Now that I've read the rest of the series, it's even more fun to revisit Jenna and Ben and

A short cute read

This book was very short but did well as a quick read. There were some things I wish we as readers were told more about, but for the length of book the story worked. The protagonist was fun and a bit quirky, and the romance was cute and clean.

Cute, quick read.

I really liked Jenna, the mc in this novella. I would love to see it be developed a bit more, even as just a little bit longer novella if not a full length. It was a fun sweet read.

Jenna is a YA novelist and is told by her agent that if she wants to continue writing books in a series about a young high school girl then she better write in a first kiss scene for the character. Jenna isn't ready for her sweet, innocent character to have a kiss and yet she doesn't want to lose her
Ok I'm getting the the patter of it now, it seems the whole series is made up of short stories.

In a way it's interesting, because so far this series just describes the meeting of the couple or they how they got together, nothing afterwords. Always the story is depicted from the heroine's point of view, so no hero or narrator.

This one was less comical that the first one and even shorter, but yeah it's also a good book. even though they are short I'm really getting into this series, it's entertain

Loved the ending!!! Want more Ben and Jenna! Hope they make appearances in the rest of the series?

Language: No profanity.

Drugs or alcohol: Part of the story occurs in a bar where martinis are ordered by the heroine's friend Lizbeth.

Sensuality content: Clean. Kissing only. The heroine's mean shallow selfish friend Lizbeth was a cringe worthy characterization of sexual innuendo never turned off during the story. Since there is some sexual innuendo, PG 13 for reading rating.

For a book that's so short and has no nakey times, this was fabulous! So cute and sweet, the author did a great job! I'd love there to be another look into their relationship as it progressed!

There is enough exposition, although you do feel like wanting to know more about Jenna. And, the story is well rounded, almost perfect. It has comedy, loads of it. It has some serious things like bad friends and a handsome and kind hero.

I'd love to read more from this author.

It's in His Kiss, by Caitie Quinn, was just kind of meh for me. I didn’t particularly like Jenna or Ben. Jenna is a YA author who is being forced by her publisher to write her MC’s first kiss into the next book. She enlists her friend to help her do “first kiss” research. She struck me as sort of awkward and out of touch where I wish she’d come off as intelligent and/or geeky. She was a tiny bit geeky, but more so quirky, in my opinion. Ben came off as this pushy, smart-assed smug guy.

Cute, quick read. The problem with me reading short stories or novellas is I always want more!

I liked Jenna... she was sweet. I didn't like Lisbeth at all! She's just a shallow jerk. And to be honest I didn't know whether I liked Ben or not till the very end. But I did end up liking him. The more I wanted was to see Lisbeth put in her place.. maybe have Dane ditch her shortly after Jenna and Ben left. I also would've liked to see a little more Jenna and Ben before it ended. *sigh* I guess I'm j

"I really didn't like him. I mean, good-looking and cocky go together so frequently it's basically a cliché, but he brought it to a whole new level."

I disliked the hero. I hate him 40 pages and that last speech (justifying the way he treated her) didn't do shit. He made her feel awful all the time!

Also, I liked Jenna but I'd like her to speak up and don't let that Lisbeth treat her so bad. I HATE toxic people ¬¬

Second read: Feb 2015...just as great the second time around. Love it!

May 2014: I've been going through my Kindle trying to get through some of the books I've bought but haven't read...I saw this one was short so I started it last night--and finished it way too quickly! I thought this was such a cute story, but way too short! But that's the thing with novellas--they always leave me wanting more. :) But I loved the wit and Ms. Quinn's writing. Super fun read!

It’s taken me a long time to warm to novellas, so short stories like this aren’t usually on my radar, but the cover caught my eye when a friend marked it ‘to read’ on Goodreads, and then the description was irresistible (not that I drink coke, but I’m totally into books that would make me snort it out my nose if I did!)

If you’re after a quick, fun, rom-com read, don’t go past this. The heroine is the epitome of adorkable, the trip to the last page thoroughly enjoyable and full of surprises, the
This was a stand alone short story. I like the way this author creates and writes a story. The writing is witty, heart tugging and sweet. I didn't like this one as much the leading lady was pretty clueless and silly and the leading man started out great and ended good but he touches her but twice as she is walking by. Yes they do have chemistry and our interested in each other but that is just tacky and scummy. This is a PG13ish read, cause of the above and a tiny bit of sexual innuendo.

This was short (41 pages). Our heroine was pathetic and our hero creepy. The first full book in the series, The Last Single Girl is great. This was not.

Book is copyrighted by Bria Quinian as is the cover, but title page says it's written by Caitie Quinn. So, which is it? Even if one is a pen name and they're the same person, it needs to be corrected so it doesn't conflict.

This is definitely not my genre. Why I bought this book and read it, was because:
- It was free at the Kindle Store
- It's a short book.

Honestly, now I regret reading it. It was a complete waste of time.

Eeek! How can such a short story be so damn good?!

It was beyond cute. And so funny!

Jenna is a writer. She writes a YA series and her character is in serious need of her first kiss. The only problem is Jenna can’t write it. Why? Well, write about what you know they say. If only Jenna’s first kiss wasn’t one she’d like to forget.

What does she do? Call for backup. And backup comes in form of her extremely-good-loo
A fun, easy to read short story with a nice, sweet heroin and and a very charming asshole. The villain aka the girl's "best friend" was a little too carricatural for my taste but, apart from that, I really enjoyed reading this

This is the best novella I’ve read in a long time! It’s In His Kiss by Caitie Quinn is the perfect quick read. It has fun, witty banter, sexy guys, sweet scenes and laugh out loud lines. My only complaint is that it’s not longer. I’m sure it would have been a bit much to keep this up in a full size novel, but it was over way too soon.

Jenna is an author of YA fiction. The main character in one of her books is ready to experience her first kiss. It has been a while since Jenna's first kiss, so with the encouragement of her sexy, popular friend Lisbeth, Jenna sets out to find herself a man. She wants to experience her own "first kiss" before writing about it convincingly.

I was really starting to enjoy this book when it ended abruptly. Argh! It was more of a very short story than a novella. Nevertheless, it was a

Just ok for me, would've liked it more if they would've met in a different environment rather than a bar. Didn't love all the references to her friend and her body, yes she's well endowed, got it, yes all the men pant after her, got it. Thought Ben was a stud, and a great little story line, just thought it could've been approached a little differently with a cleaner plot.

Moral Note: Above stuff, no language, clean romance other than stated and some innuendos.
