I enjoy reading everything Shanna Hatfield writes and this book did not disappoint me. I like both the hero, Clay and heroine, Callan and following their story through the highs and lows of their marriage. A very touching love story filled with humor, tears and romance. I like the secondary characters and hope to see them in the next book. JudyE
The Heart Of Clay is a book every woman whether married or not should read. Very emotional story, but healing at the same time.
I’m so glad I took this journey with Clay and Callen.
I believe, I also learned a powerful lesson in loving your soul mate.

I found the author's over-use of the physical descriptions of both the hero and heroine finally tiring and unnecessary.
Without delving into spoilers I found it rather a stretch that the heroine hid one of the most traumatic events in her life from her husband especially since it intimately involved them both! (This same event occurred in our own married life and I persona ...more

It is very refreshing to see how true love can survive and flourish when both work together and communicate. Very uplifting and practical approach to a relationship. ...more
Boy the ups and downs in this story really had my emotions going.
Sort of. The story line does have some interesring twists & turns but they seem to spring out of nowhere at times. Still, it is more like you discover the issues as the characters discover them.
It's not a difficult read. It would be about a medium difficulty for an ESL or remedial reading student of the middle teen years & older. There are, thankfully, no graphic sex scenes, only hints of arousal. The plus in that is both genders in the book control their urges, & the ...more

They finally meet and get married. Too many secrets threaten to pull them apart but their steadfast love enables them to work on their marriage.
This one brought me to tears!
This was a really good book that shows a couple that are trying to figure out what has went wrong in their relationship and if it's too late to come back from it. It's not boring . A lot of things happen and I can't wait to get to know the rest of the characters better in the next books.
Like the writing style. In the beginning it's kind of repetitive in that they each have their own side of the story. She has some issues to deal with. Although if those were left out it still would have worked. It's different in that they're married and 'happily ever after' just not happening. Have some tissue ready. It's clean.
This book held my attention even thought I had 6 of my grandchildren here for a week. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to read this book as I really didn't want to read about a dysfunctional couple. Then it got better and I was cheering them on.
In addition to blogging and eating too much chocolate, she is completely smitten with her husband, lovingly known as Captain Cavedweller.
