Kumi Walker never suspected that love was on the menu when he offered to fix Veronica's flat tire in exchange for a home-cooked meal. It was not long before the sexy-as-sin ex-marine realized that the wealthy widow was his true love. Now he had to convince the sensuous beauty that age was nothing but a number....

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears
It has been a very long time since I've read a category romance, having long since grown tired of the formulaic situations and characters, but this well-written book makes me glad that I took a chance on a recommendation from a friend.

This wasn't an overly gratuitous tale about a younger man and an older woman, and while there was a little of that annoying hand wringing on the part of the lead character Veronica (does it make much sense to have her be asexual because of an attempted rape? Come o

Jerome Kumi Walker and Veronica Johnson-Hamlin's Story

This novel opens with a quote from Ecclesiastes about how there is a time for sorrow and a time for love, each determined by God, not man. Kumi and Veronica had each experienced sorrow and rejection, plus many self-fulfilling experiences in their careers and travels as well, but neither had experienced blissful, unconditional love, and they didn't think they ever would - they thought that kind of love was only for other people. A wonderful tale of two people who prove the fact that "age ain't nothing but a number". Both Kumi and Veronica have been missing the kind of connection with a lover that involves both friendship and sensual chemistry. The road to their happy ending is filled with colorful family members and scrumptious meals. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
