K.’s life is what he would call humdrum. He lives in a normal house in a nondescript part of town. His wife has left him and begins to descend into a freefall of tedium. Even the talking cat and the three chimps sharing his home (where they run various dodgy business ventures) doesn’t alleviate his ennui. Until a mysterious stranger turns up and shoves a hallucinogenic vegetable through his letterbox, plunging K. into a maelstrom of reality-bending encounters and conspiracies, which might be real or might simply be figments of his disintegrating brain. A darkly nonsensical picaresque that satirises conspiracy theory fiction (while plagiarising it shamelessly), and subverts the idea of subversion itself.
