A rite born of forbidden pleasure...satisfied only by the blood of innocents.
Young Zephromae watched her brother taken away as a tribute slave and swore that she would rescue him. Her childhood sweetheart, the noble and courageous Alexander, followed to protect her. But he couldn't save her from the passionate cravings of a ruthless king. Nor could he protect her from the brutal advances of a lust-mad prince or the sly plans of a powerful priest. Or the fury of a bitter queen who had power over them all.

But Zephromae possessed a secret strength that no one could have possibly imagined -- and she would not hesitate to use it...

3.5 stars. This was a fun “lusty romp” through ancient Greece. For some reason it felt a bit like Conan the Barbarian, or any of those campy 70s sword and sorcery epics, just without swords (not counting any of those of the lustful variety) and magic. We’ve got virgin sacrifices, lustful priests and murderous priestess, a creepy prince (yup hes lustful too and sadistic), a vengeful and jealous Queen who prefers the attentions of her pet snake than that of her husband (yup she goes there)...theres an escape into the mountains where the “goat-men” get ahold of our heroine...lots of what should be WTFery but somehow just seemed completely right on cue for this little historical pulp.

I don’t know that I would consider this an actual bodice-ripper as despite all that happens to our heroine she remains perky and gets her HEA...its more like a “bubblegum” bodice-ripper. Its pretty upbeat...that being said if the following are definite “no’s” for you than be warned and steer clear: rape, incest, human & animal sacrifices, and some BDSM kinda stuff (with snakes)...see i told you all bubblegum rainbows and bunnies and rabbits 😜

All that being said this woulda been an easy four star (i ended up rounding up to 4 anyway because I love my pulps) for me if the pervy prince had gotten to have his way with our delectable heroine...With all the leadup (he had her in his grasp many times and did several naughty things to her but was always interrupted by her many saviors) I really wanted to know what the author woulda come up with for that scene. Yeah give me the bonus chapter of exed out content 😉 thanks
