I really like this book. I've had it for years, and I take it out ever so often to read because I think newspaper comics are an interesting art form. It is a very thorough look into the American newspaper comics.

It has a short history of the form, but most of the book is taken up by entries on each comic. My main complaint is that it might have had more illustrations, maybe one for each comic, but of course that would have meant the book would have been somewhat longer.

What were your parents and grandparents reading for entertainment as they grew up? What was behind the creation of and newspaper politics of those comics that you loved reading and still do?

Great sampler and history. Fun for the whole family. The only problem was I wanted to keep reading the next installment of many comics!
