Mignon.

How did the Grand Mechant Loup even think that what he saw was a toad...looks like a small dragon to me.

This is to teach children not to boast....and teach me much needed vocab.

Wolf is searching for reassurance that he is the strongest creature in the woods when he asks the other woodland inhabitants who is the strongest. They don't waste any time fluffing his ego - not little Red, the 3 pigs, the 7 dwarves, no one! That is, until he comes across a toadlike animal that has a different opinion.

This book is very short and provides opportunities to use different character voices. It was read during a preschool Big Bad Wolf themed storytime and had many laughs at the ending!

My kids cracked up at this book as they did with "I am so Handsome". I know this is going to be one they make me read over and over until we have to return it to the library! I love that they don't care that they already know the ending and get all excited each time we come to it! I love how the author makes the wolf seem really and truly like a pompous ass through his writing. Fun to read and of course, fun to listen to!

This book rules. I loved the dialogue. The wolf calls the 3 little pigs "bacon bits" and a little rabbit "sugar bun" - rad. Comeuppance at the end for the big-headed wolf, of course.

Are your children ready to read their first story with an anti-hero.

That's what this wolf is, make no mistake. For example, he says this:

Everyone knows!
I am the fiercest and the cruelest!
I AM the Big Bad Wolf. They're all
scared to death of me. I'm the king!"
the wolf trumpeted at the top of his voice.

Sure, FIVE STARS for those who would like this book.
Many (myself among them) would not be included in that group of fans.

Though first published in 2006, this book captures the political personality of president T perfectly. The demands for compliments and otherwise bullying nature of this wolf reflects what is reported by the news from cabinet meetings. Certainly wasn’t expecting that when I placed a hold on this book!

I don't understand why everyone is not giving this book five stars. I love it so much! I think it's one of the best children's books ever. It's about bullying. And it's funny. And it's deep and smart as well. I think this book would give a child dealing with a bully a school light relief at least and probably some very useful perspective.

Another Children’s book! I love how the author brings in several familiar fairy tale characters into the story, like Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs, to let him know he is the strongest in all the woods. The drawings show the other characters are pretty scared of the Big, Bad Wolf. But, the surprise ending puts things into perspective. Haha

Oh Mr. Wolf. You are so used to being so big and so strong - just ask the 3 little pigs and Red Riding Hood. What do you do when...well...maybe you aren't quite so big and strong after all. A fun little clever story, with cameos by some favorite fairy tale characters.

Absolutely hilarious, guaranteed you will have a blast reading this to your children! The big bad wolf likes to receive praise for his meanness and badness but, in the end, he discovers that there is always someone meaner and badder, you just have to look hard enough :)
