London, 1890. Blair Delaney attends an auction. He is struck by the beauty of Milo Rosso’s painting of Aphrodite. He buys it with the intention of finding the model. When he does, she exceeds his expectations.
Throughout the beautifully written novel, Andersen is in complete control of her characters. She swept me into scenes that tempted me to read on. I am sure her many fans and new readers will enjoy Diary of a Painted Lady
Maggi Anderson knows how to write a lively tale. This story moves from modern times to Victorian. Astrid is an actress playing the part of a painter's model who lived in nineteenth century England. Gina is the Victorian miss who poses for her beloved step-father. Both women have relationship issues, and Gina must struggle to survive after a tragedy. It's a light, breezy read with serious undertones on the vulnerability of women, especially the women with limited rights and opportunities in the past. The historical details are well-researched.
