Shelves: f-f, romantic
This story feels like an allegory and from that viewpoint it soars, dips, spins wildly around its central theme, and certainly touched my own heart's periodic desire and longing to go home. Plus, it is the first published book by an author I have come to admire and adore. Amusingly, I think, I believe I like this book more because I have read this author's latest and then some. Slow starting

The fist half of this was annoying. I skipped through quite a bit of it. In order for the readers to view Mercedes as the spoiled brat and worthy of the treatment she got from Nelda you have to allow her to act the part. Her thoughts of going and breaking up the wedding do not count. I felt she reacted to a lot of unwarranted back handed comments at the beginning. Who can resist a steamy lesbian romance on a Colorado ranch? Not this gal! Picking up No Leavin’ Love, maybe I had high hopes. Lesbians, horses, romance, and a quick and easy read? It seemed like the recipe for success but the whole book fell flat for me.

Mercedes Miller has a booming career in forensics in Los Angeles, but don’t get too attached to thinking we’ll follow her through crime scenes or court–in fact, forget I ever mentioned she has a career. It plays a part in this book for a total o
