A phenomenally useful book -- I wish I had one for every city I visit! It has made my trips to New York so much more fun. Now I know why there's a beaver on the city seal; I discovered and visited the last patch of old-growth forest in the 5 boroughs; and I can now identify the boulders in Central Park (hint: gneiss is nice, and schist is not nice). Easy writing style and lots of maps make this a good pick for a smart tween as well as any adult.
