Photography that leaps off the page, astonishing art work, antiracist critical receptions... Having just finished reading Das Zweite Gesicht Afrikanische Masken Aus der Sammlung Barbier-Muller, Genf, it was good to be reminded of all the other wonderful forms of African art. My favorites were the already well known figures and reliefs from Benin and the Asafo flags. Rock art in South Africa and the Sahara fascinates and the lively designs of the Berber take this book beyond the traditions most celebrated in the Americas. I borrowed this from the Vienna public library main branch.
