It was pretty scary at first. It definitely had me keeping the lights on at night. Bree was a little brave at the beginning, then she got more scared and less brave. I have a few questions for PJ Night; Was Mildred P Wormhouse dressed up as Ms.Hollows?? Did Bree's daughter die in the play 30 years later like Bree was supposed to?? The play was cursed!!!!

Reread 2020: This was such a fun one! I loved it as much as I did the first and second time I read it in 2015 and 2014. The show was creepy and awesome, I loved Bree and how strong she was and how eager and brave she was to step out of her shell, to do something special. I loved the explanation on what had happened and also read more about the show. The ending was good though I wonder why she named her kid that, I have only really seen that happen in the past.

--------------------------------------

This is my favourite book in the series. The story, the ending, just everything was perfect and super creepy.

I really liked the main character, Gabrielle, I loved how resourceful she was and how hard she tried her best to get that main part. How even though she hasn't done a lead character, she dives right in and is awesome.
I loved how she, regardless of things, just kept going (though that might also be because of magic and powers and such) with her role.
I felt sorry for her that no one believed her (at least at the beginning), though it was kind of expected since so many elements of things happening to her also happened in the story that was told by her nemesis.

There were several other things I enjoyed, but that might spoil the story, and I don't want to do that.

The background story (why everything is happening, and what is wrong with the play) was really creepy and awesome. I really enjoyed finding out what was wrong with the play, what was wrong with the teacher.

The ending, a bit cliché, but I love it. I am glad the author went with this ending, it fits perfectly. Good luck Gabrielle! You will need it. :)

All in all, I would recommend this one!

These books are surprisingly scary for how young there meant for. This book was slightly boring and not as scary as the other books. I didn’t like how Bree started out brave, but then she got more scared and stuff. I do like how everything that was happening in the play was happening to Bree. I also loved the ending and how Elle, was dying to play the (cursed) main character. Anyways, I’m definitely still going to read this series.

These books are surprisingly scary given how young they're written for. This one lost a few stars because A) character development was seriously wanting and B) climax of the book was actually really, REALLY lame.

I'm going to keep reading the series, since I have fond memories of R. L. Stine's Fear Street series, but I am not expecting to be wowed by any of it.

Sooooooooo At the beginning of this one, I felt very Meh about it. BUT THAT ENDING. The last quarter of this book was great. Loved the plot twist and the ending.

Again, as a 31-year-old these plots are pretty predictable for me but I am still enjoying the stories.

now tell me why this dumb bitch named her daughter the same name as her then sent her to that same fucking middle school are you serious that's like asking for your kid to die. and she didn't even burn the script or damaged them she just threw them in the trash. girl- tf is that supposed to do? someone could easily take that shit out the trash and hide it again which they clearly did bc this dumb bitch apparently had a death wish for her daughter. this book had a typo in it i can't with it all. im still mad about the epilogue like how fucking stupid are you what the fuck

I read this as I frequently need to recommend Goosebumps read-a-likes, so I like to check out any middle grade horror series that looks interesting. The writing is well done, the plot is not too predictable, and the characters are interesting. The resolution feels a bit out-of-nowhere and nonsensical, and the author’s understanding of theatre seems a bit weak, but overall I liked it and I will definitely try more in this series.

It's amazing, there is something on the back of the book that shows you how scary the book is and its not that scary but the play is interesting. Quick read, very creative and has a lot of visual creativity going.

Okay, so these girls join the school play. Super funn, super normal… until it’s not. Lines start coming true, props move on their own, and suddenly the drama’s a little too reall. I’m like, “bestie, this ain’t Broadway, it’s a HAUNTING!” The show must go on? Girl, I’d be GONE.

To be honest, I was not that excited for this one and it starts really slow, but it gets pretty interesting and somewhat scary at points, the ending surprised me so much.

Quite repetitive, perhaps good for young readers, as they are the target. I am reading these books to my daughter before bed. They're pretty good.

I didn't like this one as much as I have the rest of the ones I've read so far in this series. Even so, I thought it had a really good ending.

Surprisingly impressed! This book definitely gives what it promises and that's a bit of fear. I got this book from one of my kids and read it quickly before it had to go back to the library. I think it was excellently written and had a "Goosebumps" or "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" effect. I personally wouldn't recommend this as a bedtime book unless you are sure your child doesn't have nightmares. Possibly a pre-read by a parent or adult would be best as this story does have all the elements to be afraid of the bumps in the night.

I give it five stars because it was a quick and rather easy read because each page demanded to be turned while still using larger words to enhance your child's vocabulary.

If you are a strictly Christian parent then I would not recommend this book as it does lean towards the supernatural/witchcraft though it is implied.

This book was recommended to me by a student in my 4th grade class. I don't normally read horror/mystery books but since she liked it so much I figured I'd give it I shot. I was not disappointed.

This story is about a girl named Bree (Short for Gabrielle) and her desire to be in the class play. Bree gets the leading roll in a play called "The Last Sleepover" and it is at that moment that strange things start to happen in her life.

The entire time you are reading this book you are asking yourself, "Is this play cursed?" I don't know...Maybe !?!

I did not enjoy this one as much as the others in the series. I felt that it was lacking in character development and a clear timespan. There also seems to be an error in the beginning of the book. With the teacher closing a truck before sitting on it and then moving back to the trunk I can only assume he was already sitting on.
