Completely revised and updated edition of this top-selling title CD-ROM included, featuring commonly requested forms and documents Nearly 1.5 million new businesses are formed in the U.S. each year, most of which are "small businesses" One in 12 Americans will start his or her own business at some point, according to the Jan./Feb. 03 issue of The Atlantic Monthly
In the current economy (2013) I wouldn't stand a chance starting a small business! In that ignorance is bliss and times were better fifteen years ago this book gave me some insights and understanding of what was involved, and while I never had the kind of success (and related problems) this book prepares a small businessman for, I could and did use many of the ideas this book discusses. In that I think it is a good primer for a person considering going into business.
Good book, but almost "too" common-sense... has lots of helpful and useful information, but almost explained things TOO much -- moved too slowly for my tastes. Useful, but the focus is on writing a business plan -- I was looking for more how to generate ideas and get "big picture" theories -- this was too nitty-gritty for the point I'm at.
As we try to pull together enough information to start our LLC, we're reading everything we can find. Darn good thing we have access to a good public library so we don't have to buy all of these books.
