This book is actually pretty bad. But at one point it says "drip...drip....drip on hat. drip.....drip.....drip on cat." and I just can't resist an icicle dripping water on the head of a pissed-off cat. So three stars.
Ice is Whee from Carol Greene is written same style as See Spot Run, but is enjoyable nonetheless. Two boys learn about how cool, literally and figuratively, ice can be when it's winter outside. It's simply put "an-ice" way of treating kids to a fun read where the words are simple and straight forward, minus the word forward cos kids don't like forced messages. I find those cold too. But not this time! Carol Greene makes the winter season bright with cute illustrations that are funny and endearing, and should be perfect for starter readers 3-6 years old. Three stars Ice is WHEE WILL ROCK YOU!
This book was cute. It is definitely aimed towards very young readers who are learning about sight words. This book was very predictable because ice was very fun and the children said "whee" every time something new happened with the ice. Children will be able to use this book to learn about what happens in the wintertime, along with all of the different things ice can do. I thought it was funny when the children learn that ice can be really cold and one of the little boys puts an icicle on the other boy's skin. The reader can tell that ice was very cold according to his facial expression. This book will be helpful in a classroom.
