I read this for a religion class that specialized in family history in German records. The book is rather insightful for the serious genealogist. The book provides brief overviews of German records and immigrants to the United States. There is historical and geographical contexts. There is also information available within the text as to how to write an inquiry letter to German repositories responsible for maintaining the records available there.
