On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your life a 6, maybe a 7? Not bad. But what if you were told that living a TEN was possible? Would you go for it? The Book challenges you to answer a basic question: “How de you rate your life?”
Actually, whenever I applied for a new job and the Interviewer would ask me what is seems like a tricky question. “How do you rate yourself?
This question gives a glimpse of the clueless on how to rate my own life. I mean if the is job related and the interviewer would ask me “How do you rate yourself in the scale of 1 to 10?”
I usually reply a quick 7 answer as I find it more a safe rather rate myself a perfect 10 as this might irked him/her that I look like I was professional boasting so much.
So how do we rate our life in terms of fulfillment? Is getting a “perfect 10” kind of life possible? How much do we want it? Why do are the hindrances on getting a level-Ten kind of living?
Of course, we all strive for significance in one way or the other so I thought this is another self-help book like any other self-help book.
But still Terry Smith has something “new” to offer because he encourage you to strive better for the future, get your act together so not only you can maximized your potential, but also make a positive change to others.
The Author gives a more structured approach such as following the seven-step plan.
1. Awaken: Wake up to God’s dreams for your life 2. Discover: Learn how to discover your life’s calling 3. Imagine: Learn how the discipline of imagination makes the future real 4. Grow: Develop the life infrastructure to sustain success 5. Act: Take action to create your future 6. Lead: Learn to lead yourself and others to the best possible future 7. Go: Accept the call to get started living the life God dreams of you
Some chapters’ offers bite-size tips, quotes, inspiring stories enough for you to take the important step towards a more promising future.
I might add this is not your typical self-development book that concentrates more on the self-gratification, but rather it encourages you to become a Leader. You will gain more insight when reach “Chapter 15” of this book explores more of the many facets of human nature. Discover what motivates others and why others seem to have lack the drive or persistence.
Therefore, this book is a must-read for those who work in Church, who inspires to be part of a Ministry, aspires to lead a cell group. For business organizations and for the individual curious enough to find out that indeed getting a “Scale of 10” is possible for a fulfilling life ahead.
Looking for inspiration? Author Terry A. Smith will provide the reader with multiple ways to improve his/her life and reach optimal happiness. The author will remind the reader that God is always looking out for him/her and ready to catch you when you fall. A program is provided to the reader to maximize his/her life to a TEN. The steps are not hard and do not require a drastic change in one's lifestyle. The steps range from "wake up to the preferred future that is within you" and "accept the call to get started living the more and better life you were intended to live."
Personal stories as well as historical facts are provided to support the program and provide guidance and inspiration to the reader. The applicable knowledge will make a TEN lifestyle seem much more reachable to the reader. The author provides his own TEN story that will make the reader believe in him more and see him as someone who has researched this TEN life he writes about. The steps are split into easily navigable chapters that outline the step and provide support very clearly. This book is a great read for the religious and/or adults trying to improve their lives.
Pastor Smith has written a vibrant, inspiring book about how to find and live God's will for our lives. He believes that God has more in store for us than we realize and we must strive to create the best possible future for ourselves and others.
The book is divided into the following seven sections that instruct and guide the reader in living a TEN life;
Awaken Discover Imagine Grow Act Lead Go
The author believes that people do not want enough. Not more stuff. More life. And not just for ourselves but also for others. Jesus Christ said that His purpose is to give us more "life - life in all its fullness" or "more and better life than [you] ever dreamed of" (John 10:10, NCV, MSG).
The author challenges and provokes the reader to go after the more and better life that God wants for you. The world needs people who would never be satisfied with anything less than a TEN.
This book is written and organized in a very professional manner. The author makes a strong case for living your best life and he uses Scripture from the Bible as a foundation for his message.
There are "Reflection Questions" at the end of each of the seven sections. These questions are great for individual or group reflection and meditation. This book would be a very helpful resource for a Bible study group.
I love the enthusiasm and passion that the author communicates in this book. I can tell that this is a man who really "walks the talk" and "practices what he preaches".
Pastor Smith believes we must have more than a dream. Our grand vision needs to be turned into an actionable plan. I recommend this book to anyone who is ready to start living a TEN life.

Headline: There is something better, don’t accept less than the best for your life.
"TEN: How Would You Rate Your Life?" by Terry A. Smith takes a fresh look at answering your question of, "What Does it Take to Live a Fulfilled Life for myself and others?"
The book is made up of seven parts which could easily be called sections as well. The reader is taken through many steps that will shake hope for the future of the reader. There are several nuggets of discovery and spiritual principals of leadership that will move you from dreaming to doing. What I absolutely enjoyed about Ten is it will challenge you to become who you are inside. Smith says that "our creator birth visions and ideas in our minds and gives us the will to do something about it" There is nothing new about this statement, but what is new is the urgency to get moving in your life that Smith offers. Throughout Ten its theme can be found in the book of books - John 10:10 "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full"
Highly recommended.
