The chase is on…

Rough Riders, Book 11

Bull rider Chase McKay has finally landed in a pile too big to charm his way out of. Caught with his pants down, he finds himself bucked right off the PBR tour until he can get his act together.

Wow! I was surprised by how much I loved this book, because as soon as shallow me read this line: " man wanted to admit that five-foot-seven-inch Chase McKay had taken on..." I said "What? Chase is only 5'7"?" But my heroes all have to be tall! Well, at least taller than me! Now how am I going to enjoy this book knowing Chase is only 5' 7"?

So I convinced myself, maybe it would be okay, because surely the heroine will be shorter than him, right? But no! The heroine, Hollywood actress and hei

If I could give MORE than FIVE stars I would!!! Move over Cord, you have to share your spot in my heart/fantasies with Chase =)

I was soo into the story and chemistry between Chase and Ava I could not put it down, I finished around 3:30 AM...Cowgirl Up And Ride has always be my favorite, but Chasin' Eight just shot right there next to it, maybe even a little ahead of it. One of the things I LOVE most about Chase is he has all the sexy McKay swagger, but there's something different about him, the

First, let’s set the mood. The whole book this is the song that sat in my head. It’s the perfect song to go with this perfect book, so do yourself a favour and click the link, play the song in the background and listen to the words because it’s this book all over.

Okay so now that’s settled. Let’s talk bookie. Lorelei James is a Master at cowboy kink. I’m pretty sure if she were to check her shoes she

This was a good book spoiled by bad editing. The romance, when we got to it under the info dumps and grandstanding, was wonderful, but there was so much writing fat and reader management going on that I just never got to immerse myself in the story.

Actually, fuck it. Pretty much everyone else who's made it this far is willing to overlook Lorelei James' formulaic writing. Reviewing this won't impact anyone's buying decisions. Either she's your crack, or you stopped reading 8 books ago. If I write

Lorelei James is my go-to author for cowboy romance. She introduced me to a whole new world of cowboys, ranchers and now, bull-riding sport. Where I live, there's none of them hence my fascination to her stories. She has created an unforgettable series with these McKay's huge family, brothers and cousins scattered everywhere I lost track on their relation to one another :p She even has McKay-West family tree in her website.

Anyway, this story is probably the
Decent story but I didn't like it as much as some earlier books, I didn't connect as well emotionally to the characters. I liked Ava, she was funny and didn't take herself too seriously. Chase was okay but I like the other McKays better. His brother Ben sounds up my alley :)

So a pleasant story (with no horrible story-ruining prologue like the last one) but not as good as books 3-9.

Oh yeah, the McKays are starting to look like the Duggars. I think Colby and Channing have 5 kids already. Holy crap

I did like this book quite a bit. It's not at the top of my McKay family faves, but it's not at the bottom either.

Chase and Ava are a fun couple when they're just relaxing and having fun together. Their chemistry is undeniable and they hit it off immediately. Unfortunately, all this perfect-togetherness makes the middle of the book a little boring. If they'd been chased by paparazzi or something. Some kind of tension going on, it wouldn't have bogged down.

But that was a minor quibble. I found it
Chasin' Eight by Lorelei James is the 11th book in her Rough Riders series. The Rough Riders series is one of my favorite western romances not only because sensual material is plentiful in the stories but because Ms. James creates characters whom with their faults and all you still manage to fall in love with at the end of the day.

Chasin' Eight tells the story of the wild bull ridin' Chase McKay. Like every single McKay that we have come across in the series, Chase too walks on the wild side too

Make that a 4 3/4 star for me, LOL! I had to take 1/4 of a star away because of the ending. I really loved both Chase and Ava characters. I liked very much that they did not just jump into bed and got to know each other quite a bit first. The story kept me very interested throughout the whole book. The loves scenes were VERY hot and I could feel the feelings these two had for each other grow more and more as the story went on. There was some happy and sad moments both in this book, just what Lor ...more
I don't read a ton of cowboy romances because their version of alpha doesn't usually work for me. But this was good! Sexier than I was expecting, which is not a bad thing. Foreplay through abstinence is generally something that works for me, and this was no exception. I read this for Ripped Bodice Bingo, for the square heroine is taller than the hero, and I also liked how that particular bit was dealt with. I don't think I'll read the other billion books in this series, but it was a good reading ...more

Chase McKay has screwed up big time. He has been kicked out the PBR for being caught with his dick out one too many times. Because of the crappy scores he has been getting recently he decides he needs to get back to basics and decides to disguise himself and start practicing on the smaller rodeos. Then there is the one month vow of celibacy, and Chase and Tail Mackay go one month with sex?

So, yet another McKay cowboy romance by Lorelei James. This time we get Chase and Ava's story. I have to say I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Because honestly I was pretty disappointed (and some times even disgusted) by some of the previous books in this series. But for some reason I still continue to read them. This book actually changed how I feel about Lorelei James. I love a good romance, I appreciate a good erotic romance, but I hate when someone writes 200 pages of pur ...more

When I finished the book, I shook my Kindle. There had to be more. I was enjoying the story too much for it to end.

This is a wonderful story about two people who fall in love. Duh, right? Well, I read a lot of romance and the characters are often two dimensional, stereotypes or just plain boring. Both Chase and Ava have real issues. They talk to each other and share their thoughts with each other. Niether character is boring. They both grow and change because the story drives the changes.

The story begins with bull rider Chase McKay meeting actress Ava Dumond when they both unknowingly plan to stay at a friend's trailer. Sparks fly, however their first meeting soon blossoms into a breathtaking friendship. The banter between them is funny and sweet, the way they slowly bring out the best in the other is perfect. Eventually they stop fighting their mutual attraction and become lovers, and I felt like this happened exactly when it was supposed to.

Chase and Ava are wonderfu
One thing for damn sure, the sex scenes in all LJ's books were never boring and never ever lacking in creativity. And Ava and Chase's loving were pretty phenomenal!

That said, I just wanna express how much I enjoyed myself reading this book.

☑ Ava was a very wicked glamour girl with lots of dirty thoughts in her head.
☑ Chase was a bull rider bad boy trying to reform but had a very hard time doing that with Ava prancing around.
☑ The platonic relationship they had going was very sweet if somewhat

Dammit! I went and did it again! I read this latest addition to Lorelei James’ Rough Riders series too fast. Way, way too fast. I wanted to make it last, but since it hasn’t happened so far, I have a feeling it will never happen whenever I read about those McKay boys.

I always mention the emotion that Ms. James writes in her books, it’s what draws me back each time to read her next, along with her charming and intriguing characters. Well, and the lovin’ too. :) While I’ve chuckled here and there

“Sugar,” he said with a silky rasp, “I’m an everything man. Any woman I find attractive? Every single part of her is sexy to me.”

It always fun times to catch up with the McKay family, and this go around its Chase McKay’s turn. He’s found himself in some trouble with the PBR which leaves him suspended and in major need of riding help, to figure out how to get out of his slump. He heads back to Wyoming to work on his riding technique
What can I say about this gem of a book?

From the first page to the last sentence, the book had me hooked. I fell completly in love with both Ava and Chase! I was so wrapped up in their story that I found it hard to tear myself away!

OK, so what made me love this book so much?

The premise sounds, and not to be rude, very chick-flick rom-com. Two people from different backgrounds meet at a time where both are facing personal and professional issues. I'm not going to pretend that they don't get a HEA
5 BIG BULL RIDIN' STARS!! Loved it!!! This one took a little longer to heat up, but it was worth the wait. The fact that Chase and Ava connected emotionally first, was a big plus. Then when they got to the physical relationship it had such a greater impact. The author took you on the journey with them and what a trip it was. As Chase and Ava revealed themselves to each other, your connection to them as a reader was more intense. I enjoyed their heartfelt conversations, flirtatious dialogue, a to ...more
This book had it all! Romance, friendship, lust and some good bromance and sincere character development!

I loved Chase and his struggles along the road. He used sex as his coping mechanism and also used sex to avoid personal contact with fellow riders, friends and family. His dysfunction and frustrations made him complacent and his riding began to deteriorate....enter Ava.

Ava had made a few bad decisions in life...starting with getting fake breasts, dating a closeted gay guy and endi

I LOVED this book. One of Lorelei's best books in the series. I loved that she took the time for Chase and Ava to become friends and then lovers. I felt that I really got to know them and loved the book even more for that. I was not sure how I felt about Gavin, but I know Lorelei has a plan and I am sure I will love it in the end. Only this I wish for more in the this book was more McKay's. I loved that I got just Chase and Ava, but I did miss the kids and the many other McKay family memers. I h ...more

Chasin' Eight is the eleventh of the much coveted Rough Riders series and tells the story of Chase Mckay and Ava Cooper.

The book unwraps by showing Chase Mckay in a difficult spot where he is suspended indefinitely from the PBR tour to do some thinking and practicing over his love life and his career as a bull rider. It features him as a rodeo superstar, who is a notorious playboy, and spends his day only in his two favorite activities namely rodeo
