Many of the books I review are thrillers or action-packed mysteries. I wasn't sure what to expect from Cody's book except it had a unique title. This one is for those cozy lovers who like a little suspense. Set in the rural Memphis, Tennessee area, an average housewife struggles against both the local homicide investigator and a cold-blooded killer.

I love a book where at one point or another you suspect everyone! This was a really great, fast read where I really did literally suspect every single character at some point or another--except the protagonist. The writing is beautiful and elegant. Although the mystery centers around a murder, there is no graphic violence or graphic descriptions of violence so I think that readers who love a good mystery but don't have the stomach for a lot of gore would really love this. I adored the main chara ...more

This was a delightfully fun mystery, in which the author was successful at getting me to imagine each character as the killer. I truly did not know whodunit until the end. An eighteen-year-old girl was murdered, found in Jenny Connors' stolen car, and Jenny struggled with the local police and the various suspects to determine who killed her. There were lots of suspicious and interesting characters, with a good plot having just the right amount of suspense.
Evidently this is the fourth in a series

Sucked in at the very start. You can't help but to keep placing blame on all of the characters! I felt my heart rate pick up towards the end of the book knowing that I would soon find out who the killer was. I think I've read one too many Mary Higgins Clark books because I've gotten ridiculously good at figuring out "whodunit".

Not A dull moment

This book was full of well developed characters, a plot with twist and turns. This combination made it hard to put down. Will read more of her books.

It was an easy, quick read. I figured out who did it about 3/4 of the way through. I will definitely try another Sandra Cody book.

This story was pretty good. Engaging and good characters. I never knew "who did it" until the end and that's a good thing. I'd recommend it.

Good enough mystery to keep me guessing who did it throughout. I was glad that it wansn't too greusome or have a lot of bad language. Well written and fun to follow.

I grew up in the Midwest (the St. Louis area), surrounded by a family who loved stories, whether from a book or told on the back porch. I've lived in various cities in different parts of the country, but wherever I've gone, books have been the bridge to new worlds and new friends.

I write the Jennie Connors/Riverview Manor mystery series: PUT OUT THE LIGHT, CONSIDER THE LILLY, BY WHOSE HAND, LEFT
