Rate this book
Zack and Bridget are back for more gator-ific fun! Join these special friends as they embark upon an exciting winter wonderland adventure together. At first Bridget is only the size of a key chain. But when she gets soaked from the wet snow, she grows into a full-size alligator. It’s Bridget’s first real winter, and the zany gator embraces the experience—from ice-skating to sledding to making a “gator angel” in the snow. This hilarious Level Two I Can Read is geared toward kids who can read on their own but still need a little help.

If this story weren't already clearly a FANTASY, it would strain credulity.

Yet, as a fantasy-style easy reader, it's kind of cute.

In the very first sentence we learn, "The lake was frozen solid."Good thing that Bridget, Zack's alligator, wasn't living in that lake. You know. Like a normal alligator.

Except, this ain't a semi-tropical climate. In Zack's neighborhood, it's winter. Letting the fantasy loose on readers, Bridget has great fun discovering the normal kid sports in winter:

* Ice skating
* Sledding
* Making a "gator angel" in the snow.

As long as you keep remembering that Bridget is a stand-in for any normal, healthy, human first grader... The story makes sense.

Otherwise you might cringe at the illustration of a gleeful girl alligator...
sledding down a hill...
with snow flying...
and a jaunty polka-dot red scarf around her neck.
As though that's all the clothing she'd need under these fantasy circumstances.
Yowza!

FIVE STARS, along with a quizzical look from this Goodreader.

I listened to this little story with my two year old grandson. Believe it or not, it kept him engaged and we shared a real sweet 6 minutes of 'reading'!

I thought this was a really cute story. Lots of fun ideas of things to do in the winter. The artwork was cute and added a lit to the story. This is geared for little ones just learning to read, I think it's one they would really enjoy and help their imagination.

These books are getting to be a little fun. Bridget (the alligator) is a little annoying in the first book, but more fun in this one.

A level 2 reader with an interesting story to it. Zack has an alligator key chain called Bridget. When Bridget gets wet she grows into a big alligator. This story is about Bridget's first experience with snow and what people get up to when it snows; such as make snow angels, making a snowman etc. I enjoyed this book and found it very different to other level 2 readers.
