This is an amazing story. Not only does it feel a lot longer than 68 pages, it also has great depth and the message of 'how could love be wrong' is brought to life so vividly that it will stay with me for a long time.

Clay, who tells the story, has a long, hard road to travel before he can find true happiness. I was with him every step of the way. He is a very lost boy and remains lost for many years thereafter. It was heartbreaking to watch how he believed following a 'normal' path would make hi

This book, wow. Made me cry, gave me hope. Clay is noble, I guess the word would be, to me. He gave love early, to Matthew, who couldn't accept it. While Matthew is a definitely flawed, brutal character, you get enough of his back story, not to excuse his behavior, but to see what molded him into what he turned out to be. Clay received love with Sherry, who for me was the epitome of what unconditional, shining love really is. She loved Clay with her whole being, and her want in life was for Clay ...more

This was a beautifully crafted story about the life and loves of one man. Clay Bower had three true loves come into his life. To quote Mr. Thomas, "The first time I offered love. The second I received it. And finally, finally, love given and freely returned.". Clay was born and raised in a small town outside of Kansas City. His first love came when he was eighteen with his best friend, Matthew. Clay's second love came in the form of a woman, Sherry who was more of a deep friendship love. Clay w ...more

This short story is better has more depth then a book three times its length. It's the story of Clay, who remembers when as a teenager he fell in lust with his best friend, Matthew. Matthew and he have plenty of sex though Matt feels it's just experimenting till they both find the right girl (sure). Matt we also learn is the son of an abusive father who happens to preach hate of gays and probably anyone else that doesn't meet the hateful man's bigoted views.Matt discontinues his relationship wit ...more

Terrific book, the Author managed to write in 68 pages an amazing wonderful story :)Highly recommended!!!
A really sweet story, but I didn't care for the narrative.

I can see how others might love it, but it just wasn't for me.

There is much to like about this story, and unfortunately much to not like.

The basic arc of the story - the early-on love/sex relationship between the two adolescents passing into the one character "going straight" then degenerating - is a fine theme. Then, the love between the narrator and his wife is moving and powerful, as is to a certain degree the intervention of the narrator in the abuse of his erstwhile friend's kid. Thomas shows himself to be a master of the romance genre in that he can

Most of all, this is a honest book. The titular rhetorical question, “How can love be wrong?” is answered here by a relationship which “breaks almost every role there is” and still feels right. I got the impression that the core of this story was striking up a blow for loving relationships that don’t fit into any pigeon-holes, and even though the case was a little overstated at times, the message came across as a matter close to the author’s heart.

This was a beautiful, deeply moving and comforti

I'm not sure I can explain all the reasons why I really liked this story. I was very sad for Clay that he was living a less than fulfilling life in some ways. I guess that in the end I felt like the story was so authentic and I was so happy for Clay that his 3rd Act didn't start too late. I will need to read more from this author.

This was a beautifully written story that felt much longer than it actually was! Very real, emotional, heartbreaking but happy, and just a wonderful story.
