I'm not normally bothered by present tense, however, I think its use here in combination with almost no verbal communication between the characters (I'd be surprised if there were more than ten sentences exchanged.) made this an awkward read for me. I enjoyed the self discovery aspect, but I really felt like I was observing from a distance than being immersed into the story.

Intersting description of a voyage of discovery - internal as much as external. Written in present tense, this story has an immediacy that is quite gripping. Not much is said about the characters, a lot is implied by their actions and looks. We know just enough about ther pasts to have an idea of who they are. What Merrick discovers about himself surprises and delights him, and the slow way in which this develops kept my interest.
I did have trouble with the lack of emotions, I was unable to fel the passion between the men. But then, that is a purely personal issue. It wasn't as if the passion wasn't there, it just wasn't a key element of the story. Which is possibly to be expected, just something that stopped me from liking it more.

While I typically like all-man menage erotica, but I don't enjoy reading about adding a third party to an established couple, especially an ex! It just spells trouble...it may seem silly that I will pass judgment on fictional characters, but if I don't love the characters, I wont love the book. And I'm over the whole BDSM thing. It wasn't overkill in this book but even a little is too much for me lately.

The external POV on this story felt a bit odd to me, but otherwise read well and was a super sexy intro to submission for one of the menage. Alix's writing is always so hot.
